Tigerville Times
January Edition
From the Principal's Desk
As we head into the heart of the winter season, be sure to keep an eye on the weather. Being in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains, our weather changes rapidly. If in-person school cannot happen due to weather, please remember that we will have an e-Learning day instead of the traditional school day. Students will need to login to their Chromebooks and use Google Classroom to meet with their teacher and class. Check out the complete details from GCS regarding weather days.
We are still looking for parent volunteers to help with the following projects:
- Selling Chick-Fil-A biscuits on the first Friday of each month (7:10 am-7:45 am; Biscuits will be sold in the car line loop, near the ball field).
- Running the school store on the first Friday of each month (7:15 am-7:45 am)
If you would like to volunteer and are able to help, please contact the front office at 355-4600.
If you wish to become a Level II Volunteer, please visit the Greenville County Website for guidelines & information on the application process | GCS Volunteer Process
We can't wait to see all of the exciting opportunities the new year brings.
Sincerely,
D. Jackson
Art Lines
Welcome back to a bright and shiny new year! I hope you all are well rested and enjoyed many fun and exciting days making new memories with your loved ones! I would like to thank everyone that supported our fundraising benefits through Original Works and as far as I am aware all orders were received and correct! As we start out our new year in the art room, we will focus on completing our Winter Arts Units and look forward to displaying this art work in our school hallways. Parents please be reminded that this is a great time to refresh the art supplies your students use at school. Please consider replacing art boxes with some new pencils, a new box of crayons, a fresh glue stick, and perhaps a new black fine point Sharpie pen for all 3rd – 5th graders will be most appreciated. We will also be working on those art skills such as listening and following to directions, good scissor skills and working with creative purpose and setting goals. I look forward to many more great adventures in the art room with all classes and grade levels. Let’s roll up our sleeves and get the creative energy flowing!!

BOOK BINGO
Students are invited to participate in Book BINGO. They will receive a book mark with a special reading option for five nights. They may complete their Book BINGO bookmark from Jan. 10-17. All Book BINGO bookmarks are due back to Mrs. Imms on Tues., Jan. 18. Students who participate will be entered into a drawing for prizes.
Music Notes
Now that the Holidays are over, it is time to get back to our singing, dancing, playing instruments, and learning how to read music. Fun times are ahead for each grade level as they explore new musical styles, time periods, and instruments.
K-2nd will continue their musical journey with Quaver Music. As a reminder, each week students have activities they can complete on the Quaver Website under the A+ circle on their Student Dashboard. They should know how to get there. Also, there are many other fun activities and games they can use to help build their musical knowledge.
3rd-5th have started Recorders! Please make sure your child has purchased a Recorder to use in the music class. We have Recorders for sale in the Music Room for $5.00 each. If they want one to practice at home, I’m so sorry, you may want to send in $10 to purchase 2. Some of the students are very excited to start while others are a little nervous. I promise, I’m here to help guide them all the way!
