A Message from Principal Molsee:

November 12, 2021:

Hello QES Families,

Our afterschool program had a successful first week, students worked on homework, created nature journals, and enjoyed playing outside. Thank you Ashley Bomar for your part in making this happen.

Friday will be another Cougar dance party, weather permitting. It takes 15 Cougar Coupons for students to participate. We'll wear our dancing shoes.

Thank you for helping your child remember to take a mask to school. It helps reduce the number of masks we go through each day and helps reduce the waste we see on the playground.

Next week is the final week of school before Thanksgiving Break. Check out this website full of Thanksgiving snacks kids will love.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend,

Rachel Molsee, Pioneer Principal

A Message from Principal Hollister:

November 12, 2021

Hello QES Families:

Our Cougars had a fun week of outdoor learning. 4th grade traveled to Bucks Lake to observe the Kokanee Salmon run and 6th graders explored the Boyles creek watershed. Our garden is looking tidy, thanks to the hard work of our rakers, diggers, and weed pullers in all grades under the expert leadership of Farmer Ryan. We learn outside at every opportunity, even during the winter months so please make sure your student is dressed for rain and snow. Our wonderful partners at Rotary have provided us with a supply closet with a few items for students in need. If your student needs rain/snow gear, please let us know and we will try to help provide these.

I would like to offer congratulations and gratitude to the QuEST team for their work in bringing us an after school program. There were many years of hard work and false starts, and this group of dedicated parents kept the idea alive and saw it through to implementation. Thank you!

The unclaimed clothing at QES Alder is now up to 4 large garbage bags. We will lay everything out a couple of times between now and winter break for students to reclaim. Anything not claimed will be taken to Quincy Thrift. Thank you for reminding your student to get their sweatshirts and jackets!

Have a good weekend,

Lara Hollister, Alder Principal

Free Crisis Counseling available for California residents

It’s been a tough last year and a half for many in our county. The Covid 19 pandemic has brought hardship and uncertainty to our community, and the added stress of several catastrophic wildfires in the past two summers has added another layer of difficulty.

This double crisis has put tremendous burdens on all of us, and many people have no choice but to struggle alone. This is why California State has started a productive new partnership with BeWellLine, a partnership that will bring care to the people who need it most.

The BeWellLine mission is to provide evidence-based, free-of-charge care to people who might not have access to it otherwise. This is a free service, available to anyone, without regard to existing insurance coverage or qualification. Everyone in the state of California is entitled to reach out and get the help they need, receive advice and counseling, and share their story.

If you’ve been struggling through the pandemic alone or feel like you need greater guidance and support, get in touch with the BeWellLine by calling (855) 838-6910 or visiting bewellline.com or calhopeconnect.org today to arrange a counseling session or learn more about how they can help you.The counseling services are available by phone, online chat, and video conferencing, and are free.
