GSRP PD and Child Care Licensing Hours

Please be sure to check in with the office this week regarding the following:

As we are into the 2nd semester, we all need to monitor our required professional development and child care licensing hours. Please make sure your PD and child care licensing document is updated in the office. Remember that GSRP lead certified teachers must have 30 hours for the 2015-2016 school year. Associate teachers must have 24 hours per year. As Davison GSRP staff, we follow a professional development schedule that combines both Davison PD, GISD PD, and topics that cover our required child care licensing hours. It is important that you monitor your hours and keep an updated copy in the GSRP office and also your own personal file. Certified teachers, when the time comes for you to re-new your teaching certificate you may need proof of these hours. I can't emphasize enough how important it is to keep on top of this. It will make the process much smother for you when the time comes to re-new. The GISD ensures us that they have record of all GISD PD that you attend. We will be requesting documentation from them to keep in your employee files at the end of the school year that outlines the PD you have earned throughout the school year, but this is ultimately something you are responsible to keep track of on your own behalf. Please check in with the office this week to see where you are at with your hours. Let me know if you have any question regarding this process.

DON'T MISS BOOM AND ZOOM IN THE PRESCHOOL CLASSROOM!!

Want to learn effective ways to keep our preschool boys engaged in productive learning? Don't miss this Friday's PD! Kenneth Shepard will be at the GISD Health, Safety and Nutrition building @ 5075 Pilgrim Drive. Davison GSRP teachers are signed up to attend the a.m. session from 8:30-12:00. Please RSVP to Carrie and I to confirm that you will be attending. This is not mandatory if you are over your required hours, but it is highly recommended. If you are over your required hours and would still like to attend, you will be compensated.

Parent Teacher Conference Guidelines

Thank you for your patience regarding spring parent teacher conferences and all of the who, what, where, when, when inquiries that we have had pertaining to state guidelines for GSRP programs. Mrs. Miller, Mr. Brown, Heather Williamson, Catrina Wiskur, Angie Moore, Paula Scott and myself have all been collaborating to make sure we move into compliance with state guidelines this spring, while at the same time making theses conferences meaningful and convenient for parents and teachers. We will be going over the suggested plan that the GISD is allowing us to follow this spring. We will also discuss how we can schedule conferences for the 2016-2017 school year. In the past, we followed the logistics of school age conferences. The requirements of the state will no longer allow us to do so. We would like out spring conferences to be held after the March 4th TS Gold data entry checkpoint. This will allow you to use the latest Child and Development report to guide your conference. You will also use the family conference form. We would also like you to have contact with parents before kindergarten round up which is March 14th-18th. Therefore, we are planning to schedule conferences the evening of Thursday, March 10th from 4:30 to 7:30 and from 8:00-4:00 on Friday, March 11th. The office will be putting together sign up sheets for you. We will go over the required format of the conferences at our next staff meeting on Friday, February 19th.

Social Committee

Please see me regarding a suggested date for the social committee to meet during lunch time in the near future. We need to get the themes and dates set for our monthly staff potlucks, future staff outings, end of year celebrations, a check in on our funds, and any other items we need to discuss.

Our next staff potluck is scheduled for Thursday, March 10th. So far we have had rave reviews for each of our themes. We have had Sub Sandwich, Mexican, Soup and Salad, and Superbowl appetizer themes. If anyone has an idea, please let a social committee member know and we will discuss it at our meeting.

Have a fabulous week!
