Pierce Downer This Week
Week of October 18-October 22
Weekly Update
Pierce Downer Families-
There are so many fun things coming up next week for our Pierce Downer students. First, THANK YOU to Mrs. DeMarco and Ms. Minardi along with the entire Student Council for planning an exciting Red Ribbon Week. You can see all of the spirit day activities in the "upcoming dates" section below. We will also have our Halloween parade and party on Friday, October 29. The parade will be held outdoors (weather permitting) beginning at approximately 1:30pm.
Students wearing costumes will be required to wear them to school and there will not be an option to change after the student has arrived. Full Halloween costume information can be found below.
We have seen an increase in car rider traffic with the lower temperatures and inclement weather. Our goal is always to ensure the safety of our students. The car rider drop off areas on both Grant and Oakwood are for dropping off only. If you must exit your vehicle to support the student getting out of the vehicle you should be utilizing the street parking and not the drop off areas. The car drop off line should also not be used for a standing area to observe students into the building. It is critical for our flow of traffic to utilize these drop off areas effectively and efficiently.
Please remember the doors open each morning at 8:10 and class begins at 8:15.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns via email LWagner@DG58.org or call 630-719-5860.
We are PD!

Voluntary COVID Testing Program Signup
District 58 encourages families to consider signing up for free PCR COVID-19 testing for District 58 students. Registration for this optional testing program is open and our program is actively underway.
Families can select from any or all of three types of testing services including:
Weekly screening testing (routine testing)
Symptomatic testing (testing when a student or staff member develops symptoms at school)
Test-to-Stay (testing for situations in which a student has been identified as a close contact)
Test-to-Stay, an IDPH-endorsed process that allows a close contact to remain in school with regular antigen testing, will begin next week. Please see the district communication regarding the IDPH's guidance regarding when Test-to-Stay can be implemented in schools.
The student sign up for our school can be found below.
