PA Renaissance Faire Creative Writing Grand Prize Winner
Submitted by Mr. Kevin Schmidt; and pictured above are Ksenia and her ELA teacher, Miss Vitacco.
Congratulations to Ksenia S. who, we just learned late last week, won the GRAND PRIZE in the PA Renaissance Faire Creative Writing Contest. Ksenia’s entry titled “Renegade Rescue” was selected from over 5000 entries throughout the 2017 Faire Season. We are so proud of Ksenia's passion and resilience exhibited during the writing process. And by the way, you might recall, Ksenia also won the grand prize for the Renaissance Faire poster contest. Well done! Well deserved!
KAD Results
Congratulations and thank you to everyone who participated and made this past Saturday’s KAD Day a HUGE success! Our committee started working on this school-wide service project months ago and all of their work paid off. Special thanks to Mr. Klein, Sra. Murray, Mrs. Fink, Mr. Heisey, Miss Vitacco, Mr. Tauber, Mrs. Myrtetus, Mme. Oriniski, Mrs. Villa, Mrs. Kirkpatrick and Mrs. Consoletti. We would like to thank State Representative Katherine Watson who presented Tamanend with an official proclamation declaring Saturday “Warrington KAD Pay it Forward Day!” We thank all of the teachers, staff, students, and parent volunteers for your energy and service. Thank you to all of our student and alumni referees. It was a tremendous effort with a tremendous outcome--We exceeded $32,200 for the KADMF this year! THAT IS THE MOST WE’VE RAISED SINCE 2013 AND OVER $7,000 MORE THAN LAST YEAR!!! Again, congratulations to all. KAD Day was a perfect picture of what Tamanend Together Always, truly means.
Tamanend Jazz Band--Superior!
Submitted by Mr. Larry Werner
This past Friday evening, the Tamanend Jazz Band attended their first festival of the season at Upper Moreland Middle School. The jazz band had an incredible outing receiving high scores from the judges. They not only received a first place rating of "Superior," two of the jazz bands individual sections were recognized as the top performing sections of the evening. Congratulations to members of the saxophone and trumpet sections for being awarded the only section awards given out on Friday. One Tamanend soloist was recognized for her electric guitar work in the realm of jazz improvisation, 8th Grader Leah M! Mr. Werner is extremely proud of the entire jazz band and is looking forward to our performance recording reflections on Tuesday evening. Congrats again!
Bucks County World Language Contest
Congratulations to the 12 Tamanend French and Spanish students who participated in the Bucks County World Language Competition at Quakertown Community High School on Thursday, March 1st. Students worked in teams of six to answer questions about vocabulary, grammar, and culture in the target language. We could not be more proud of these students and their enthusiasm and dedication to language learning. They all represented Tamanend so well! And the French team won First Place! Great job, Enrique D, Ali F, Chloe G, Jude G, Srinithi K, Mae H, Elizabeth H, Jonna N, Robbie P, Evan S, Veronica S, and Alexandra T.

Freshman L2U
We have had two L2U events this year so far. The last one on March 24th is for the ninth graders only. It will be held at CB South; it is run by South LINK leaders; and, it includes ninth graders from Unami Middle School, too!
Invitations will be sent out soon to our ninth graders who have previously participated in a L2U and/or have joined the after school club, LINK. That means we are inviting about 100 students. There are only enough resources for 40 Tamanend students and 40 Unami students to participate. Students who want to participate need to look for their invitation in the mail and RSVP immediately by returning their signed permission form with their shirt size indicated.
South LINK starts at 8:30 and ends at 11 a.m. Being that it is an action and learning packed two-and-a half hours, students must commit to attending the entire session (no leaving early). Participation is free and student participants get a South LINK t-shirt at the end.
This South LINK event will serve as a first chance to get involved in the LINK program at CB South during the high school years. This is an exciting opportunity for our Freshman leaders to become involved at CB South.
State Assessments
- PSSA ELA: April 10-12
- PSSA Math: April 17 & 18
- PSSA Science: April 24 & 25
- Algebra 1 Keystones: May 15 & 16
To prepare for the assessments, students are encouraged to go to bed early, eat a healthy breakfast and bring water, a calculator, and two #2 pencils. Students may not bring any unapproved electronic devices: cell/smartphones, smartwatches, ereaders, tablets, etc. For more information and frequently asked questions about state assessments, click here.
Student Car Rider Drop Off/Pick Up Pattern
It is highly recommended that parents/guardians of students who walk or take the bus have their students walk or take the bus. On days, when students need extra help getting to school, please consider driving them to their assigned bus stop and wait together in the car until the bus arrives. A student will never be marked tardy if they arrive by bus.
If parents/guardians decide to drive students to school, please plan enough travel time to allow for safety and congestion on Stuckert Road and in our school parking lot. The speed limit in our lot is 15 mph.
The following is a mapping of how the student drop-off works in our parking lot. Drop off should only happen along the sidewalk indicated by paw prints on the map. For your safety and the safety of our students, please follow these directions and do not drop your student off on Stuckert Road, the Visitor's Parking area, or in the middle of the Main Parking Area. Thank you for your support and careful driving.
Upcoming Events
6th Grade Parent Orientation
We happily anticipate meeting our rising 6th grade parents and guardians and showing off all the many wonderful things to look forward to at Tamanend Middle School.
Please note the March 5th date of 6th Grade Parent Orientation for new and upcoming Tamanend parents/guardians. The CBSD calendar, which was printed in the summer, has a different, incorrect date.

Tamanend Parent Council
Parent Council is an open meeting where all parents are welcome to attend to learn more about Tamanend Middle School. Parent Council typically meets on the third Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. There is no obligation to attend all Parent Councils and there are no elected positions. Parent Council is a forum for parents and school leaders to learn from and with each other, together.
This month's Parent Council will follow a book club format. Please read Jensen's Teenage Brain and join us! (And no worries, if you don't have time to read the whole book we will have summary notes to share.)
