LEADER IN ME PARADIGMS - A reminder for all of us....
I returned home and told my principal we needed to implement the Leader in Me at Kinard Elementary. “What was different?” she asked. “Everything,” I said. “But the biggest difference was the feeling in the school. It was the paradigm. It was as if every adult member in the school believed that every student was a genius.”
Stephen R. Covey used to say, “If you want to make minor, incremental changes and improvements, work on practices, behavior, or attitude. But if you want to make significant, quantum improvement, work on paradigms."
I couldn’t agree more. The power of The Leader in Me leadership model lies in its core paradigms, from which everything else flows. These paradigms resonate with educators from all over the world. That’s why The Leader in Me is now being used by over 2,000 schools across 35 countries.
In a recent survey conducted by Westgate Research, 99 percent of principals reported that The Leader in Me had a “very positive” or “positive” impact in their school. I am seeing it at Pontiac - and I hope you are, too. I have heard many of you say, "The students know the habits, but they aren't transferring them and applying them." I remind you, "Give it time. Give them time. Give the process time." For many of our students this is the first time they have really spent time directly learning the habits. If we truly want this to be embedded indirectly in all that we do, it takes modeling from us and a natural shift in our paradigms. It is coming! I am so proud of how well we have implemented the Habits this year and look forward to celebrating students on Friday at Pancakes with the Principal!
In closing, it is my hope that we can all hold to these powerful paradigms that I first witnessed at A.B. Combs, because they give us the “why” behind the “what.” Thanks to each of you for your shared belief in the leadership potential of every student.
You are making a difference!
Wrapping up Parent/Teacher Conferences
Laminator
If you have any questions or are unsure about anything please never hesitate to let me know that they are able to help!
Please do not forget to put the clip back on the lamination plastic; this keeps it from rolling back under the film.
Do not use the cutter that is on the laminator. Instead, use a pair of scissors that are located near it. Leave a couple of inches hanging off the roll.
The speed is set - do not change it, please. Don't hit reverse either. This will cause damage to the machine.
If you don't think there is enough lamination on the roll, don't use it. Simply ask the media specialist team to help you replace the film roll.
The school is purchasing a new laminator soon. New procedures will be in place once it arrives!

Thank you for all that you do to help bring out the potential in each student.
Make Up Picture Day is tomorrow!
This will be for any new students who have enrolled since September 8th and any students who were absent on September 8th.
We will try to have a list of absentees in the morning and call the children by grade levels.
If we happen to miss students in your class that need to have their picture taken, please just let the front desk know and send them to the cafeteria.
Thank you for all your flexibility during picture days.
FIRE DRILL REMINDERS
When there is a fire drill, please remember to close and lock your classroom door. This will notify officials that no children have been left behind in your room.
Ensure that you and your students move quickly to exit the building,
quietly.
Be sure your sub plans should reflect an updated student roster.
