This week we celebrated a week of palindromes. The most exciting was 2/22/22 at 2:22 pm-classes participated in a Twosday-dance party, dressing as twins and we had our 2nd and third graders mark the festivities with created t_shirts. I have photos above from our second grade who partnered with our D303 transition program and ordered t-shirts made by our very own D303 students. This collaboration across the district is wonderful. Thank you to the Hairy Ant for donating shirts for our third-grade classroom.
Next week we enter March, I am looking forward to the spring weather and new beginnings that are often associated with spring. As we approach to this point of the year, although we are focused on the learning and community of this year, we begin to look at next year and begin to plan. Our 5th graders have begun planning for their transition to middle school, we have conducted kindergarten registration, and soon we will start creating class lists and plans for next year.
February is often a challenging month with cold weather and this month had many other circumstances we all needed to navigate. As we enter the next month we will begin administering assessments. The first is the Illinois Science Assessment for our 5th graders in March, March 15, 16, and 17th. Then after spring break, we will have all students in grades 3-5 take both the reading and math Illinois Assessment for Readiness (IAR). This schedule will be shared as we get closer to the dates.
Finally, I am including below a letter from our nurse who will do a presentation to our 5th grade, please see below.

We would love to know your feedback-5essentials Survey
District 303 participates in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey that collects feedback from all of our stakeholders; our students, teachers, and parents. The Parent Survey is currently open and will remain so through March 11, 2022. Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will give you the opportunity to share your thoughts on important elements of school effectiveness. The responses will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide our improvement efforts. All responses are confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.
To take the survey, please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate survey. As part of this communication, we have included a link with additional information about how to access the survey. Most notably, make sure you enter Kane County in the box for county even if your home or your child’s school is in DuPage County. This will allow you to correctly select your child’s school.
All District 303 teachers, as well as students in 4th through 12th grades, are being asked to complete this survey. 5Essentials Reports will be generated for schools if their teachers and/or students meet the response rate threshold of 50 percent. Teachers will work with students to assist them with logging in and taking the student survey.
As a parent/guardian, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about Lincoln Elementary School. We value your feedback and appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your input. Please visit the D303 5Essentials website or call the main office if you have any questions.
