News and Notes from Mrs. Rosenbloom
Every Racer Every Day
January 2nd, 2024
Happy New Year! We are so excited to welcome our youngest Racers back to school Thursday, January 4th, 2024! We will also be in school Friday, January 5th. We will not have a family picnic this Friday since we are just coming back after a long break. We will pick back up with our monthly picnics on Friday, February 2nd, 2024.
There is always a ton of growth in our students during the second semester, and it is fun to watch all the lightbulbs come on! Please continue to read at home each day, practice letter recognition and sounds, writing names, sight words, and rhyming. These are all such key foundational skills.
We have some fantastic family engagement events planned starting late January; keep an eye out for more information coming your way soon!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Rosenbloom
Attendance
Importance of Attendance and Reminders
- Research shows that the habits students are forming at the ECC will follow them for all of their school years; please make every effort to have students at school on time daily
- Please call by 9:30 am to report absences to the front office. 387-6200
- If we do not receive a call, our office staff will call to verify absences
- Our counselor, Mrs. Bergt, will call to set up meetings for families of students with excessive absences. We want to try to help get students to school and provide any resources we possibly can

Shout Outs and Celebrations
Building Literacy in Our Students
ECC In Need of Books
We give away approximately 100 books per week to reward our K-1 students for leveling up in our reading program, Lalilo, as well as getting to visit the book vending machine for birthdays for our PK students. In the past, we've had places to get books at discounted prices, but those have gone away significantly. 400 books per month can easily run around $2000 per month. We could really use donations of gently used children's books to refill our book machine. The children love picture books, but our first graders also are reading chapter books such as Junie B Jones, Magic Treehouse, Captain Underpants, etc...Please consider cleaning out your shelves and donating so we can recycle and continue building a love for literature in our young readers. Just send donations with your student or drop the off in the front office. Thank you so much for your support!
Important Office Reminders
- Parents/guardians are not allowed to walk up to the car line to check students out with a car tag; if you are not in a car, you must go inside the front office at 3:55 to check your student out
- Students will not be checked out from the office between 3:30-3:55. This is an extremely busy time as we get almost 500 students safely to their method of transportation. Everyone in the building is involved in helping with this in one manner or another. If you need to check a student out for an appointment, please arrive before 3:30, so that it is not an issue.
- Our staff's contracts end at 3:55. Please make arrangements for your student to be picked up if you have an issue getting there before 3:55. We know emergencies arise; please communicate with us. 405-387-6200
- Students may only be checked out by someone listed on the Parent Portal. If you send someone not on the portal, you must send an email adding that person prior to the child being picked up. We will not release a student to a person not authorized on the Parent Portal.
- Your ID must be shown for checkout every time.
