How to Access Benchmark Level Grades and Progress/Academic Growth Level Indicators
How to Access Benchmark-Level Grades in Infinite Campus
This progress report is an effective tool for communicating student growth within the grade level benchmarks. Infinite Campus Parent Portal has the ability for parents to be notified when any grades are entered and updated throughout the school year. Final grades will not be posted until June. Please visit this link for more information on how to see your students Continuous Progress Report.
Progress reporting uses growth indicators that measure and describe growth/progress over a defined period of time. An indicator of “M” is the expected goal for students, which indicates that the student independently meets the grade-level Learning Targets. The expectation is that most students will achieve an “M” by the end of the year for each grade-level learning standard.
- M = Meets Learning Targets: an “M” indicates that the student independently met grade-level Learning Targets. The student requires no additional support or assistance in successfully demonstrating grade-level skills and concepts learned and mastered.
- D = Developing Toward Learning Targets: a “D” indicates that the student is developing foundational skills to master the grade-level Learning Targets. The student's current level of progress/growth is characterized as requiring consistent teacher support to ensure progress/growth.
- N = Not Meeting Learning Targets: an “N” indicates that the student has not developed the foundational skills necessary to master grade-level Learning Targets.
- X= Not Assessed or Taught at this Time – An “X” indicates that the Learning Target(s) has not been introduced. All Learning Targets on grade-level progress reports will be taught by the end of the school year. An “X” may also indicate an accommodation for a special education student with progress being documented through the IEP progress report in lieu of a mark on the Continuous Progress Report.
School Closings and New Flex Day Information for Families
We would like to share with you updates to Flex Days and how Lakeville Area Schools will communicate if school is delayed, must close early, or is canceled.
NEW Flex Day Student Schedule!
During the 2023-24 school year, our schools will be piloting a new Flex Day schedule that involves more opportunities for live, virtual interactions between students and teachers using Webex, in addition to independent work.
Flex Days continue learning when school is canceled
On days when school is canceled because of weather or an emergency, Lakeville Area Schools may implement Flex Days for K-12 students and for students in early childhood special education. On a Flex Day, students complete learning activities from home instead of coming into their school building. The Superintendent may call a Flex Day after the first snow day.
The benefits of Flex Days include keeping everyone safe and off the roads when the conditions are poor, allowing for learning to continue when school is closed. Additionally, Flex Days make it more likely that schools will not have to schedule make-up days during the school year or add days to the end of the school year.
On Flex Days, all students will begin the day with 2 hours of independent work time. Students use this time to work on homework and/or their elementary Flex Day Choice Card using their district-issued iPad. Because teachers will be using this time to plan for the day, teachers will post all new assignments and instructions for the Flex Day by the end of the 2 hour independent work time. Students are able to contact their teacher via email/messaging if needed during this time period.
Once the 2-hour independent work time is over, elementary students will participate in a 30-minute Morning Meeting with their class on Webex. During the meeting, teachers will check in with their class, and talk about their Choice Cards and Seesaw learning activities for the day. After the Morning Meeting, students work to complete one activity from each category on their Choice Cards and Seesaw learning activities assigned by their teacher. Attendance will be taken during the Morning Meeting or through the completion of a Seesaw activity before the end of the school day.
Students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) will be provided learning activities to facilitate continued progress on students’ IEP goals and objectives by their special education teacher with opportunity for a live check-in.
New daily schedules for elementary and secondary students with Webex start times are posted and available on the Flex Days webpage.
School, programs and activities may be closed and/or canceled by the Superintendent in the event of poor weather conditions or emergency. Upon a decision to close, delay school or dismiss early, all families will receive a phone call, text message and email to the emergency contact listed in their Parent Portal.
School closings will also be posted on the District website at isd194.org and on the District’s Facebook page @LakevilleAreaSchools, Twitter page @LakevilleAreaPS and Instagram page @LakevilleAreaSchools. An official announcement will be made on TV stations WCCO (Channel 4), KSTP (Channel 5), KMSP (Channel 9) and KARE (Channel 11).
When adverse conditions exist, please know buses may run late at times. Parents are advised to make provisions for the care of their children in the event of a school closing, late start or early dismissal. Downloading Here Comes the Bus to your iPhone or Android device, gives parents/guardians a status of their student’s bus route in real time when delays occur.
How to ensure you don’t miss school delays and cancellation alerts
If you haven’t already completed the Annual Household Check-in process, now is a good time to double-check to make sure your emergency contact information is up-to-date so you don’t miss any school closure alerts. You can check your contact information on file in your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account by clicking the user icon in the upper right corner. Then click “settings” and “contact preferences.” You can update your preferred email and phone number for calls and texts, and language in the Parent Portal or by emailing SISsupport@isd194.org.
