The Pawsome Print
August 19, 2022
Dear Pawsome Loring Families,
I hope you are doing well. Loring School was busy this summer with our SMILE and ESY programs happening. I want to give a huge shout-out to our students and educators that were part of the SMILE and ESY programs!
We are excited to welcome students back into the building on August 31, 2022 for students in grades 1-5 and September 6, 2022 for our kindergarten students. We will be holding individual kindergarten visits on August 31, September 1 and 2. If you haven't received information about your kindergarten visit, please contact the front office at loring_office@sudbury.k12.ma.us.
Crossing Guard Update
The crossing guard positions are from about 7:30- 8:00 a.m. and 2:30-3:00 p.m. (11:40 a.m.-12:10 p.m. on early release days). If you know of someone that may be interested in this role, please have them reach out to Sara Harvey or David Gaita.
This could be a great opportunity to get some fresh air while seeing the smiling faces of our fabulous students each morning and afternoon!
Class Placement Information
Teacher placement for incoming kindergarten students and students that are new to Loring was mailed to families and not in Aspen. If you did not receive a mailing from the school with placement, please reach out to Tara DiBona in our front office and she can help you tara_dibona@sudbury.k12.ma.us.
The district sets up Aspen Family Portal accounts for new families (Kindergarten and new-to-Sudbury) each Fall. Families of new students will receive the Aspen Family Portal login information in the mail by the end of September.
Back To School Packets - Please Fill Them Out
Back to School Packet are live and should be filled out by families for each student that attended SPS last year. If your child is entering kindergarten or new to Sudbury, you have completed these forms during registration and do not need to complete the Back to School Packet until next year.
If you have not completed your Back to School Packet, please click here.

Dismissal Changes During the School Year
Please call or email the office at loring_office@sudbury.k12.ma.us to let the office know of dismissal changes prior to 12 pm.
An email to the teacher is always welcome but it should not be the primary way to change your child's dismissal. A morning reminder to your child about their dismissal change is always helpful.
Before the school day starts, you can also call the absence line at 978-579-0870 and press 1 to report the absence giving a specific reason.
If your child is not at school and we have not received a call or email, we will contact you (and your emergency contacts). If we can't reach someone, we will need to call the police department to complete a wellness check. Please know that safety is our top priority.
Preparing Your Child for School Lunch
As we prepare for the school year, it will be important for students to know how to open the things you send in for lunch. Teachers will be here to help but with lots of students eating at the same time, it is important for students to be independent in this area. Thanks for your support in getting your child ready for school lunchtime.
Peanuts/Nuts are allowed for lunch in the lunch room. There will be peanut/nut-free tables for students that need that space during lunch. Snacks eaten in the classroom will need to be peanut/nut free.

Loring Core Values
At Loring School, we are PAWSOME because we show our Core Values! These values are part of everyday life at Loring and reinforced in the classroom, on the playground and all around school. Students are taught the meaning of each word and how they make us better students and citizens.

The Loring Pledge
The Loring Pledge is said every morning during announcements. Loring students embody our pledge and we hope this stays with them not only when they are at school but home as well.
