MARCH KEY OF EXCELLENCE - FLEXIBILITY – Be willing to do things differently
Flexibility is the willingness to try something different when we realize that what we’re doing isn’t working. Many times a day we are faced with situations that are different from what we had originally planned. One way to deal with these situations is to be rigid and continue to do things in the same way over and over—another is to handle them with flexibility. Being flexible is responding to change or new situations in ways that move us forward.
Flexibility is about not getting locked into one way of doing something. If we’re trying to achieve something (like getting up on time in the morning) and it’s just not working, we try another way (like moving the alarm clock to the other side of the room so we have to get up to shut it off). Flexibility is about recognizing all kinds of habits or patterns or activities in our life that aren’t working and changing them, and even changing them again until we find the one that works!

North Dakota State Assessment
- North Dakota State Assessment (NDSA) Begins-All students in grades 3-5 will be participating in the State Assessment. We are asking for your help to make this experience a positive and successful one! We’ve been preparing at school all year for this test by learning and growing together. This test is a very serious opportunity for our students to show us what they know. Please discuss with your child the importance of doing his/her best on the NDSA, as the results are impactful on our building with the North Dakota Department of Instruction. We appreciate your assistance in making this a positive experience for everyone one. Please be on the look out from your child’s teacher about special requests during the NDSA Testing week. Here are some suggestions YOU CAN DO to help us during your child’s testing week:
- Ensure your child arrives to school on time.
- Have your child eat a healthy supper (at home) & breakfast at home (or at school).
- Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep.
- Limit their screen time at night during the testing week.
- Gently encourage them to do their best, and encourage their efforts each night about how they did on the test.
Testing Dates (Testing Sessions are about 2 hours in length each day) PLEASE
WATCH FOR EXACT TIMES FROM YOUR CHILD’S TEACHER ON DOJO:
- Grade 3 (English Language Arts & Math)-March 29th-April 4th, 2023 (Make up session will follow if needed)
- Grade 4 (English, Language Arts, & Science)- March 13-March 21st, 2023 (Make Up session will follow if needed)
For the month of March during PE, all grades K-5 will be completing their volleyball unit. This will take up the first two weeks of March. Once volleyball is completed, all grades K-5 will then start their frisbee unit. This will also take about 2 weeks to complete as well. Friendly reminder to bring your gym shoes as the snow melts so the gym stays nice and clean. Thanks!
March is National Reading Month & Music in our Schools!
