Swansboro High School
Weekly Updates November 25, 2018
Happy Sunday Pirate Families-
We hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. We have only 20 school days before our Christmas holiday and they will be packed with learning, community service opportunities, athletic events and performances. We kicked off our basketball season last week with games at Topsail High School and our wrestlers hosted their first tournament on Wednesday.
This week in the boro' includes our Pre-ACT for all 10th grade students on Wednesday. It is important that all 10th graders are at school on Wednesday on time and prepared for this assessment. All 10th graders are required to participate and those who are absent will participate in make up sessions. This week is also HOSA spirit days which includes Medical Monday, wear gold on Tuesday to support research for pediatric cancer, wellness Wednesday where students are encouraged to wear athletic or yoga clothing, fake injury Thursday and HOSA shirts on Friday.
Pirate athletic events this week will include basketball at Lejeune on Monday, basketball at home against Richlands on Tuesday, track at home and swimming at Twin Rivers on Wednesday, wrestling at home against South Lenoir on Thursday and home basketball against Croatan on Friday. Saturday will also include a swim meet at Moore Aquatic center, a varsity cheerleading competition at the Raleigh Convention Center and wrestling at the Swiss Bear Classic in New Bern. Good luck to Cannon Tootle who will play in the All-American soccer game in Orlando on Saturday. Students will be able to purchase discounted student tickets Tuesday-Friday this week in the office at lunch for home basketball and wrestling matches. Students tickets must be purchased in advance and are $3.00.
Parents of seniors should note that we will host our Project Graduation parent meeting on Wednesday at 6 pm. Our senior scent circle fundraiser ends tomorrow and as a reminder there are prizes for the top 3 sellers. All proceeds directly support Project Graduation.
We could use parent volunteers at lunch again this week to help finish making the student IDs. Please contact Mrs. Carroll (cathy.carroll@onslow.k12.nc.us) in the front office if you are able to help. A special thank you goes to Michelle Ehlenberger, Melanie Mattingly, Suzanne Westerburg, Jennifer Hall, DeeDee Gradus and Allison Goebel for their assistance in tackling this huge project.
