Valentine Grams

This week, our fourth grade will be selling Valentine's Grams before and after school on Wednesday and Friday. These will be $1 each or $25 for a class set.

Parking Lot Reminders

Thank you to all who follow our parking lot guidance. If somebody new is picking up your child, please share the procedure with them. I wanted to remind families of a few important parking lot procedures.

- Pull all the way forward and drop off your child. Please do not stop at the crosswalk if there is room in the front.

- Please help your child quickly exit by having all supplies ready. If you need to help your child out of the car, please wait until you can stop after the crosswalk. When cars stop before the crosswalk, traffic flow slows down.

- Do not leave your car unattended at any time. Do NOT park your car along the curb in line and come to get your child. Please wait patiently for the line to move forward.

If we follow the guidance above, pick up and drop off run much smoother.

Attendance

Attending school is very important for consistency and student learning. Unfortunately, last year Panorama fell into the high category for chronically absent students, and we continue to have a large number of absences. Students are chronically absent when they miss 10% or more of the school year. When students miss a large number of days or have many tardies, a letter is sent to the family. If the tardies/absences continue, a meeting will be scheduled to discuss ways we, as a school community, can support increasing attendance. If this does not cause an improvement, we begin the attendance review process with the school district.

Please make every effort to bring your child to school each day on time. If your child is going to be out for three or more days, you can choose to have them complete a student contract. If they choose this option, their absences do not count, and the student will receive credit for the work completed. If you plan on your child being absent and you wish to discuss a contract, please contact the office.

Elevo PE Program

This week’s games are The Matrix and The Maze Game, and the focus is creativity.

Creativity is your ability and willingness to generate new ideas, use information in new ways, and have an active imagination. Creativity goes beyond art projects or creating new things. Breakfast and lunch will continue to be provided to all students at no cost this school year. Breakfast is served before school starts, beginning at 8:00. Please be sure to have your child here at 8:00, if you would like them to eat breakfast before school starts. This ensures they have enough time to finish.

All students need to be sure they let their teacher know the day before they are buying lunch. We may not have enough lunches if they do not request one. Also, please remind your child that they should not be getting lunch if they are bringing one.

COVID-19 Procedures and Safety

Individuals who are sick or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should contact their healthcare provider and stay home. If your child or a member of your household has tested positive or is awaiting COVID-19 test results, please follow public health guidance.

If your child tests positive for COVID-19 or experiences COVID-19 symptoms, please contact the school and/or email me at erosselli@orangeusd.org. We will gather information from you and provide you with your options.

If a student tests positive, they are required to isolate. The isolation guidance requires 10 days without testing from when symptoms began or a positive test (whichever comes first). The student can return to school on day 11; however, if a student tests negative on day 5 using an FDA-approved antigen test and all symptoms have improved that student is able to return to school on day 5. If a home test was used, students will need to bring the attestation form to the office upon their return. The student must be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.

Please refer to the OUSD Safety and Health Driven Plan and the County of Orange Health Officer’s Orders directly for more information.

The Orange Unified School District will be offering COVID-19 testing Monday through Thursday at the district office from 2:30 - 5:00.

See the flyer below to register for testing. You MUST register prior to arriving to test. Scan the QR code in the flyer or click here: https://apps.livingfitnation.com/covid/registration?q=ZC128mzcc9lFeeoTzoXp3w%3D%3D
