Reading With Ms. McGrew
Fun fact about Ms. McGrew
My great-grandmother actually came from Norway! When they landed in America, they began living in Minnesota. This picture was taken in Minnesota while I was visiting my family who still lives there. Norway was where a vast amount of Vikings came from. The hat I have on in this photo is a replica of a Viking hat.
Did you know vikings and pirates are connected? The name Viking came from the Scandinavians themselves, from the Old Norse word "vik" (bay or creek) which formed the root of "vikingr" (pirate).
I hope you are still reading everyday and enjoying lots of outside play time. Remember, reading 20-30 minutes a day can increase your reading skills and it's so much fun to do!

Your mission is to help the Kratt brothers figure out if the red panda belongs to the same family as the black and white panda. Use the informational articles to find out facts about each panda. Create a venn diagram to compare the red panda and the black and white panda. Use your comparisons to determine if they are in the same family. Have fun!
P.S.
I LOVE incorporating your likes and interests into my lessons. I know Gavin (1st block) and Jack (2nd block) both love the Wild Kratts! If you have a topic you would like to see me incorporate into our lessons while we're doing e-learning, message and let me know. I will try to incorporate it when I can!

Math with Ms. Kirkpatrick
Hey, from Ms. K!
Wow, that was a weird week, huh? I miss you! I wish we were packing our lunches and laying out our clothes for (normal) school tomorrow... but I'm also very grateful - and EXCITED - to experience a new adventure with you! I have watched you overcome many challenges and grow so much as people. I have no doubt that this trial of teaching-by-technology could lend a hand to creating good character and sharpening your skills. You are resilient and wonderful and I can't wait to see your faces soon! (Just promise not to laugh when it takes me a few tries to get a video call working!)
