The Buzz at Westbrook School
January 8, 2020
From the Principal's Office:
Dear Westbrook Families,
Teachers are starting off the new year with winter benchmarking. Students in kindergarten and first grade will be assessed in reading and math using FastBridge, Fountas and Pinnell, and district-developed assessments. More information about each assessment can be found at this link.
To support this important work, you can expect to see a combination of learning scenarios for students on testing day while teachers spend time in a breakout session completing assessments. The following scenarios can occur on assessment day: a substitute teacher leading the class, classes may be doubled-up to support assessment tasks, or your child may be assigned independent work to be completed while the teacher is assessing other students. Your child's teacher will communicate with you the day of testing and the learning assignments will be posted. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about winter testing schedules and procedures.
We are looking forward to welcoming students in school on January 19, 2021 for hybrid learning. Class assignments for all students will be emailed on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Your child will be meeting with their new teacher and classmates for a welcome zoom session next week. Please watch for an invitation from your child’s teacher to join the welcome zoom session.
The Westbrook Hybrid/Remote Learning Overview is provided below for your review. This overview can also be found on the Westbrook webpage link. Please watch Mr. Anderson’s Westbrook School-Hybrid Learning video with your child to prepare for our transition.
We are excited and ready to welcome students in school on January 19th. Please watch for additional information next week as we finalize plans.
