Supporting our community and families

We know that the last 2 years have been difficult for our families and community. Though the holidays can be “the most wonderful time of year”, this season can also be incredibly stressful and difficult for some of our families.

If providing for your family over the holidays will be a hardship for you, we invite you to fill out *THIS FORM* for a Holiday Care Box. We would like to provide items for a holiday meal for you and your family.

Please be reassured that your name and information will be kept private and confidential. Ms. Smith will be the only one who is aware of the families that are signed up and will contact you directly about setting up a time for delivery.

We will keep *THIS FORM* open until Wednesday, December 15th. Please don’t hesitate to fill it out if you would like some help this season. 😊

Student appointments

If your child has an appointment and needs to be picked up early please make sure you give us a call in the morning. This will give us time to track down the student and let teachers know if they will be missing class.

Calling the office from the parking lot makes it difficult for us to track down students in a timely manner.

Thank you for your help as we do our best to get students out in a timely manner.

School Drop Off and Pick Up

Thank you to all our parents/ guardians for continuing to keep our students safe. The peace officer does regularly spend time on Colwill and when he came in to talk to us last week mentioned how much he appreciates the flow of traffic and respect that he sees being given to Mrs. Snaterse our crosswalk monitor.

A few reminders;

1) please check times for drop off areas in front of the school on the signs posted

2) please DO NOT make u-turns when coming out of the bus lane.

Also please be mindful of our neighbour's driveways and not blocking them when doing pick up and drop-offs. We have had a concern brought forward from a neighbour in Foxhaven near the cut-through path.

Thank you for your support and for helping us be good neighbours.

First Chapter Friday

What better way to begin December that with Doctor Who: Twelve Doctors of Christmas? This book is for fans of the BBC television program, and inside this festive book of Doctor Who stories, you'll find timey-wimey mysteries, travels in the TARDIS, monster-chasing excitement and plenty of Christmas magic. Find out what happens when the Third Doctor meets Jackie Tyler, the Seventh Doctor and Ace encounter an alien at Macy's department store, and the Ninth Doctor tries to get Rose a red bicycle for Christmas. Use Destiny to put a hold on this title, or drop by the library at lunch to pick it up today.

First Nations, Metis, and Inuit learning corner

As our country moves toward reconciliation with Indigenous peoples, we thought we’d bring you a simple, easy way to move your own understanding forward if you’re curious about how you can be a part of the learning which leads to reconciliation. #Next150 was first introduced a couple of years ago, and we felt it was a good time to re-introduce it to the FR Haythorne community. Each link will take you to a short exercise you can do to move your learning forward.

Good luck & enjoy your first challenge.

Fee Waiver Applications

Fee Waiver Application Deadline

If circumstances exist where you’re unable to pay school or transportation fees, you can apply to have fees waived by submitting an Application for a Waiver of Fees. The application deadline is Dec. 15, 2021. If you’re new to the Division, the deadline is the latter of Dec. 15, 2021, or 45 days after registration.

To access your fee information, simply log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and go to “Student Fees.” There you can view your fees and pay them online using Visa or MasterCard. All fees are due within 30 days of being posted.

Don’t forget to also log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal regularly throughout the year. Fees are often added to your child’s account to cover the cost of various school activities such as field trips, class projects, extracurricular activities and more.

For more information about school fees, waivers and payment deadlines, visit www.eips.ca/schools/fees. Alternatively, contact Karen Bidniak (Business Manager) at F.R. Haythorne at 780-467-3800.
