Activities to increase achievement through vocabulary

Vocabulary is KEY

Perhaps one of the most vital and overlooked components of instruction is vocabulary. Often we assume students know the words they are reading, but it isn't always the case. This is true of both academic "course related" terms and general vocabulary as well. Comprehending vocabulary is a key that can unlock understanding for students.

The activities mentioned in the videos below are useful for ALL CONTENT AREAS. Please take a few moments to browse through the material presented and think of how YOU can use it in your class---whether you are a tested or non-tested area!

Please note that each "button" is a link to a Vimeo video. Vimeo is blocked during the day, but you should be able to access it after school or from home. To help out, I have created some screen shots of info from the videos just in case you cannot view them.
