Early Excellence Express
December 16, 2019
OFF TO A GREAT START
With the support of our families, we have accomplished some pretty amazing things as we have progressed through the school year:
- We increased personnel, by adding an additional teacher, paraprofessional, and two custodians.
- We have established community partnerships with HEB and Hobby Lobby as they extended support for student projects.
- We installed an amazing playground to provide a platform to build and exercise large and small muscle groups.
- We installed a solar shade to provide relief in hot and cold weather conditions.
- We are currently providing internships for 12 CTE students in the field of education.
- We have over 20 volunteers from Tomball Star Academy on a weekly basis.
- We have partnered with both Tomball High School and Tomball Memorial High School students from the following CTE pathways: Culinary Arts, Registered Dental Assistant, Certified Nurse Assistant, and Emergency Medical Technician.
- We gave our students "hands on" experiences in the fields of construction, transportation, nutrition, safety, and health.
- We provided an opportunity for school portraits.
- We provide the same digital learning resources and equipment as other district students so that are students are truly ready for kindergarten.
- We have created a schedule whereby staff members collaborate to address critical student needs in the learning and developmental process, including curriculum, instruction, assessment, and responses to learning.
- We have created a program whereby oral language skills can be targeted thoroughly and accurately through both direct and play based instruction.
After an intensive five months of state inspections, I am proud to announce that Early Excellence has been given a perfect score in all standards. We have now moved from "Permit" status to "Licensed Center." This allows our facility to begin working on national accreditation in early education. Thank you to our families for your amazing support during this time. We could not have done it without you. Excellence truly does begin early.

REMINDERS
SNACKS
At EEA, we are growing minds and bodies!
Please remember that each child needs to bring two nutritious, ready to serve snacks from home each day. One for the morning and one in the afternoon. Snacks should not require cutlery, cutting or reheating.
Balanced snacks help to keep our kiddos full longer as they spend a lot of energy exploring their environment. Great snack choices include one item of produce (veggie or fruit) and one item of either a fat, protein, or whole grain cereals or breads. (American Association of Pediatrics).
Some excellent snack ideas are:
- sandwich cubes
- cheese and crackers with Applesauce squeeze pouch
- Plain low-sugar cereal (Mini Wheats, Cheerios, Kix) and fruit
CHANGE OF CLOTHES
-Two complete changes of clothes, including socks, pants, shirts, and underwear
-Morning and afternoon snacks
-Nap time materials
-Reusable water cup
For actively potty training students:
-Wipes
-Pull Ups or training underwear
These items should be restocked on a weekly basis.
Conferences
Parents may request a conference with a teacher if they would like to discuss their child’s progress. Parents must call the Academy to schedule a time that does not restrict the learning of other students.
Teachers will reach out to parents to schedule a conference at any time they feel there is a need.
LUNCH COUNTS
The staff at THS needs our lunch count by 9:15, so parents please let your teacher know whether or not a lunch will be needed if your child is coming in late.
Coffee in the Cafe
Coffee in the Cafe is held each Friday from 3:30 pm to 4:45 in our center's cafeteria. If you are unable to enjoy a cup of coffee with us, please leave us an "EspressNote." EspressNotes can be completed at any time and reviewed by staff on Fridays.
We will keep the coffee pot full for you!
