Private newsletter/blog for students of OTPC Chalk Paint®

A special note to our students~ from Bahia, Annie Sloan certified retailer & instructor

I am so grateful that I have been able to share the love of Chalk Paint® decorative paint with you over the past 1.5 years. In September we closed our Silver Spring location and danced on over to Kensington's Antique district to open up..wait for it...On the Purple Couch, A Place to Create...let's just say we wanted to to spread our wings and paint..thanks to all of your for helping to make that happen. Many of you have been talking about painting together and creating really what I would like to borrow for my Philantropic work days is called a 'learning community'. This is it..so sit back and I hope you look forward to these post that will come just to you..tips, new information, resources and techniques that I would like to share with you. I will also be including specials, discounts & more for those of you who have committed and joined this group..thanks for coming with me on this journey and I hope to see you soon either in the store or in another class (yep I've done what you've asked) advanced classes for November. Also for January I will be offering a Paint with me workshop just for YOU..so keep your eyes open for that one..

Things to remember about Chalk Paint®

  • No stripping or sanding prior to using Chalk Paint® & you can use Chalk Paint® even on metal
  • Waxing is a very durable finish that is water repellant not water resistant..need a refresher? Holla at me...and come in for a quick refresher
  • Annie Sloan's newest color is English Yellow...we have a wall in the new store painted yellow...yes you can paint walls with Chalk Paint®
  • Did you know you can make a wash/lime effect with Chalk Paint®? Add water 1:1 to your paint and brush on a piece whose grain is open...
  • New techniques include a wax resist, decoupage & frotage..sounds cool come see the samples in the store..
  • Try a new 2 color distress: Olive and then paint over with duck egg..let dry, wax and distress
  • Try colors that you haven't done before..check out Aubusson Blue in the picture below...
