Farley Elementary School's Weekly Family Update

THOUGHTS and THANK YOUS

Dear Farley Families,

Enormous thanks this week goes to caregivers Gilma DeFranzo and Lainie Dougherty for planning, organizing, and executing an incredible Farley Give Back Bingo night. With their help and the generosity of many Farley families, we were able to raise over $2700 for our dedicated staff member Anne Hubert. Anne and her entire family-her mom, son, brother and sister-were all in attendance and overwhelmed by our community's love and support. Special thanks also goes to the over 30 local businesses that donated prizes for our raffle. Gratitude also goes to the many staff members that came to Bingo night after a long day of work. This is just one more shining example of how strong of a community we are here at Farley and how our school culture radiates positivity.

This Sunday is finally Farley day at the WooSox! I can't wait to watch the game with all of you. The game starts at 1:00 but first pitch is around 12:40. The weather is looking perfect...not too cold...not too hot! Thanks again to caregiver Lainie for organizing this.

Next Friday-the 26th, is our Memorial Day Celebration! All are welcome! Caregivers can meet us outside at the baseball field at 9:20am. If you are a Service Person or Veteran being honored, please report to the main office. Hope to see you there!

THANK YOU LYNNE MILLSON!

In an effort to keep improving our incredible courtyard, Home and School has purchased new benches that turn into tables for the space. This week, caregiver Lynne Millson, donated her time and energy to putting together the first set up benches pictured below. They are so cool and super functional! Students have already started to them too! Thank Home and School and Lynne!

LOOK AT THE NEW DUAL LANGUAGE BULLETIN BOARD!

Ms. Susana and Ms. Georger have outdone themselves once again with a new Dual Language bulletin board located in the main office hallway. This one is dedicated to Portugal! In addition to the academic information shared, this board is also interactive. There is a little box attached to the righthand side that plays music when the button is pushed. Next time you are in the building stop by to take a look and hear some tunes.

IMPORTANT MassHealth INFORMATION

Please read the following important message from Cathy Kilcoyne, the Director of Student Services for HPS.

MassHealth Redetermination for Families:

Families have been automatically renewed with MassHealth benefits since February 2020. Starting April 1, 2023, MassHealth will begin the eligibility redetermination process, renewing all 2.3M members over the following 12 months. This will generally be the first-time members are at risk of losing their coverage since February 2020. In preparation for this effort, MassHealth has increased staffing significantly to handle a greater volume of calls and applications, improved our systems to automatically renew as many members' coverage as possible, and is working in close collaboration with health plans, providers, and other stakeholders.

MassHealth has provided the Masshealth redeterminations brochure in multiple language.

· English: https://www.mass.gov/doc/masshealth-redeterminations-brochure-0/download

· Spanish: https://www.mass.gov/doc/masshealth-redeterminations-brochure-1/download

· Portuguese: download (mass.gov)

MassHealth has assistance for redetermination for families who are not citizens in multiple languages.

· English: https://www.mass.gov/doc/masshealth-redeterminations-flyer-for-individuals-who-are-non-citizens/download

· Spanish: https://www.mass.gov/doc/masshealth-redeterminations-flyer-for-individuals-who-are-non-citizens-spanish/download

· Portuguese: https://www.mass.gov/doc/masshealth-redeterminations-flyer-for-individuals-who-are-non-citizens-brazilian-portuguese/download

If you currently have MassHealth watch for the BLUE folder (see below) arriving in the US Postal Service from MassHealth with important information about to apply for the eligibility process for redetermination. Families must respond to the contents of the envelope to reapply for MassHealth. Once a member receives a blue envelope in the mail, they have a number of ways they can submit their renewal.

#EXPLAIN YOUR BRAIN POSTCARDS

In an effort to continue to share the amazing ways our students are "Explaining Their Brains" (Farley's Instructional Focus this year), staff will be sending out postcards each month. Be on the lookout in the old-fashioned snail mail.
