A brain injury caused by a blow to the head or a violent shaking of the head and body.

Causes of a Concussion

It is caused by a blow to the head or body, a fall, or another injury that jars or shakes the brain inside the skull.

  • Physician Evaluation
  • Parent notification
  • Cleared by physician before returning to play.


There are no true preventions of concussions, but there are ways to limit the risk of suffering from one. Wearing appropriate head protection that fits properly is one of the biggest ways. All of the head gear should be checked before it is used.
