- Explorer One is launched by US in February 1, 1958
- NASA's budget is increased, and they begin to plan for a moon launch
- July 20, 1969, Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong set first man foot on the moon
Comparison to the Cold War
The Cold War was a competition between the United States and the Soviet Union, as well as the Space Race. Both of these were non-violent, but were very competitive. There were no threats to attack each other. Both were for the best of something in a competition.
