Digital Media Center Update

June 2015

No more pencils, no more books...

It's finally here...spring, graduation, the culmination of everything we've been working for all year. There's still some learning to be done, so stay tuned in with Digital Media Center resources for your students...and then have a great summer!

June Resources

Check out some timely resources from Learn350, ProQuest, and World Book Online. Be sure you're logged in to view these links.

June 6th marks the anniversary of D-Day, when Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy, France. Take a look at History Study Center's resources, including primary sources and atlas articles.

Flag Day is celebrated Sunday, June 14. Check out Learn360's quick overview of the history of this holiday and our flag.

Juneteenth (June 19th) is a day commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. World Book Student summarizes this important festival.

Your students may have some great fiction lined up for summer reading...why not supplement with nonfiction books from SIRS Discoverer's collection? Students can access the resources from home. Just be sure to remind your students of their login information before sending them out the door on that last day.

Feature of the Month

World Book Kids Redesign!

In March, World Book Kids launched its completely redesigned website. The site is completely new, with image-driven navigation, and it's now optimized to work well with iPads or other tablets. Many new curriculum-based games and activities are available, as well as the fact-packed articles you're used to--now presented in a visually engaging format to really grab your students' attention. If you haven't checked it out, try it now!

Coming soon to your World Book subscription: a complete redesign of World Book Student!
