All About Mexican Americans

Were that settled

The Mexicans settled in Californa,Texes and New Mexico because some of them are by the water. Also they are used to the water for wear they used to live back in there homeland. Also difficultes in there journey are dirty bouts on there way to America also bad food and not good rooms to stay in on the way to America.

Traditions from there homeland

Some traditions in Mexico are Cinco De Mayo is the celebration of a battle that the Mexican people won in 1862. Mexican Independents Day on September 16 celebrates Mexico's freedom from Spain.

Dia De Los Muretos is the day of the dead. Is celebrated on November 1 and 2. People make there favorite foods. They think about and remember family members and relatives who have died.

Reasons for leaving

In the 1800s Mexicans did not want their country to be controlled by Spain. Also in the 1770's people traveling from Mexico built the mission of San Juan Capistrano in California as a center for business,farming,education, and religion. The Mexican people went to war and then people were scared about going agents there home land so they left for the US.

Jobs they were hoping for

Lots of Mexicans did not know what job they wanted instead they became farmers because they just moved into a different state and they don't even know the language. During World War Two more than 300,000 Mexican Americans fought for the United States. Thousands of other men fought too. There were not enough farmworkers so the Mexicans and the U.S government started the Bracero program. Bracero means strong arm or worker. Mexicans got passes to work in the United States for 60 or 90 days.

First years in America

In America Mexicans would work in the mines,rail roads and building bouts they also made canals to carry big ships.

All about the Mexican flag

The Mexican flag is a proud possession to the Mexicans. The coolers stand for Mexico. Red is for the blood of the solders, White for peace for the people and Green for hope. Like the faumos Mexican saying for the flag is "banderita banderita banderita tricolor me recuerda al ansiano que hizo grande la nacion, tenia Blanca la cabez, rojo fuerte el corazon y grandes las esperanzas que hicieron fuerte esta nacion".

Mexican milk cake recipe

This cake is made with three layers Cake, filling, and topping. There are 4 types of milk in the filling and topping whole milk, condensed milk evaporated milk and heavy cream. This is an excellent cake for milk lovers!
