Classical Conversations

New Community & New Programs - Mid CTX

Misty Meadows - North Cedar Park Foundations & Essentials

Misty taught in an AMI Montessori preschool as well as third grade in the public school system. As her daughter began preschool, Misty began searching for where and how her children would be schooled. When they dedicated their son to the Lord, they chose Deuteronomy 6: 5-9 as his life verse. It says, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates." Mike and Misty determined their children's home education should be a natural extension of that call. After attending CiRCE Institute and reading the book Educating the Wholehearted Child, Misty felt a strong conviction from the Lord to fully homeschool her kids. “If all truth is God’s truth, then all truth must find it’s way to the mind through a heart that fears God…Until your children submit their hearts to God and to your authority, you cannot effectively educate their minds.” The Classical Christian model is the structure their family needs to continue home education. Her desire is to empower and partner with like-minded parents to give their children the tools to seek truth, goodness and beauty. She is excited about homeschooling her children and redeeming two educations - theirs & hers through Classical Conversations.

Christine Jones - Northwest Austin Challenge A

Christine Jones and her husband pulled her son out of public school when he was in 1st grade when they felt God wanted them to homeschool their children. After one year of trying things on her own they were invited to an Information Meeting at a friend's house and immediately enrolled both their children into CC. Christine also signed up to tutor and 6 years later her family is still enjoying the learning experience of homeschooling. She has been a Foundations/Essentials Director for 3 years and is moving up to Challenge A this year.

Kelli Freese - Cedar Park Challenge B

Kelli and her husband were all set to send their firstborn to Kindergarten but felt God leading them in a different direction. The more Kelli researched curriculum and different programs the more overwhelmed she became. After flitting from program to program they found Classical Conversations and haven't looked back. She now happily homeschools her five kids and is amazed daily by all the she is learning alongside them.

Christine Hollingsworth - North Austin Challenge IV

Christine and her high school sweetheart, Eric, have been married for 23 amazing years. They have homeschooled their three children from the start, except for one year their oldest spent in a private Christian school as a kindergartener. By Christmas that year, God was convicting them to homeschool him and his little brother. Christine took an eclectic approach and homeschooled maverick-style for five years until she was introduced to Classical Conversations. At that point, she was thirsty for structure and companionship on the journey and jumped into tutoring Essentials. Eighteen months later she took on Directing the community and has enjoyed the blessings of Directing Foundations and Essentials for the past six years. Their whole family, Joshua (18), Michael (15) and Emily (9), have been blessed beyond what they could have thought to ask for.

Christine has vicariously experienced the joys and difficulties the the Challenge program for six years as her sons have progressed through the levels. Now, she finally gets to join in the fun as she is taking on the exciting position of Directing Challenge IV in the coming school year. THIS is the cherry on top of the hot fudge sundae of Classical learning! Her prayer is that this year of deep discussions, hard work and serious thinking will equip these young men and women to go into the world to "Make Him Known."
