U.S. Dakota War
Luke Griffith 03
The Tensions
There were high tensions after some of the Dakota went to the Lower Sioux Agency to become Farm Dakota, and live how the white people live. And some of the Dakota stayed in the Upper Sioux Agency and they stayed Traditional Dakota, and lived how they always did. So they did not get along.
Lower Sioux Agency
They had towns, boats, and lots of government people. They were more civilized, than the Upper Sioux.

Causes
One of the biggest causes was the egg incident. When some Dakota teenagers killed white settlers. The other one was the tension between the Upper and Lower Sioux Agencies.
During The War
The war only lasted six weeks, but more than three hundred people died. In the end the United States government won over the Dakota.
Government workers, traders, missionaries.
The government sent people to live in the Upper Sioux and the Lower Sioux. They also handed out food and supplies to the Dakota. The traders worked at stores to give out extra food and supplies to the Dakota. The missionaries tried to convince the Dakota to join Christianity.
