The Jacksonville Commitment Scholarship

The Jacksonville Commitment Scholarship covers the cost of tuition, room and board, and books. Students must meet the following criteria in order to be a candidate for a Jacksonville Commitment Scholarship:
  • Eligible for the Free or Reduced lunch program
  • Graduate from any Duval County public high school
  • Admitted to one of the four postsecondary partner schools (Edward Waters College, Florida State College at Jacksonville, Jacksonville University, and the University of North Florida)
  • A Florida resident
  • Eligible for a Pell Grant

The Gate Millennium Scholarship

The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Program selects 1,000 students each year to receive a good-through-graduation scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice. The 2015 GMS online application is open until Wednesday, January 14, 2015. The following is some of the criteria students must meet in order to be eligible for the scholarship :
  • Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian & Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American
  • Attained a cumulative high school unweighted GPA of 3.3
  • Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities

Wings Over America Scholarship Foundation will be hosting a Scholarship Brief at NAS Jax on Thursday, Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the VP-30 Auditorium. CareerSource Northeast Florida Scholarships

CareerSource Northeast Florida may be able to offer scholarships to eligible individuals who are seeking education in order to obtain employment in a demand occupation or industry. Scholarships are based upon eligibility and funding availability.

Miss Delta Teen Pageant

The pageant is open to female high school students, grades 9th through 12th. Applicants must submit a photo, high school transcript (GPA of 2.0 or higher required), letter of recommendation, and a $25 application fee.

Free SAT and ACT Preparation

Free SAT and ACT preparation classes will be held at James Weldon Johnson in the Academic and Career Training (ACT) Center. Each segment will last for 6 weeks.

First segment
Sept. 16th - Oct. 23rd. On Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30pm-6:00pm.

Second segment
Nov. 4th - Dec. 11th. On Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30pm-6:00pm.

AVID Study Hall

This is available to ALL Sandalwood students needing assistance with Math, Science, History, English or seeking out college/scholarship information. An AVID student, UNF student, Early College student, AVID College tutor or a National Honor Society member will be waiting to assist you. Make sure to bring your Cornell notes, books, or other necessary materials.

When: Every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00pm-3:30pm.
Where: Room 140 (The big AVID room)
