Hang 10 with a Gnarly Book

Want to go to Schlitterbahn for FREE?

Surf into reading with Schlitterbahn's Waves of Pages Reading Program. Kicking off on Monday, December 7th, the program runs until Friday, February 12.

Students are encouraged to read at least 10 hours (600 minutes) and fill in a reading log. Every student who completes the minimum number of minutes and returns the reading log with parent initials by the due date will receive a FREE ticket to Schlitterbahn and a discount offer for family members.

Preschool Storytime - Snowmen!

Huebner Library

Visit the Huebner Library for a fun-filled story time dedicated to our winter friends… snowmen! We will sing snowmen songs, make a snowman craft, and of course read some snowman books! Plus take home a bag of “Texas Snow”. So join us for tons of fun as we warm up with a cold friend!

Has the Holiday Frenzy Taken Over Your Children?

Need something to keep them entertained? Take advantage of some of these fun and free events taking place this month at the Cody Public Library.


  • Family Movie Night: Thursday, 12/3, 5:00-6:45, Come and enjoy a new movie with the whole family!
  • Tween Time: Monday, 12/7, 3:00-4:00, Bring your friends and hang out for some interactive fun at the library. No desks. No tests. Just fun! Exclusively for nine to twelve year olds.
  • Beginning Readers Book Club: Tuesday, 12/8, 4:30-5:15, Beginner readers who are eager to read fun books and share some of their favorite stories are invited to join us for this fun-filled event. Includes word games and a snack!
  • Fiesta City Chorus: Tuesday, 12/8, 6:30-7:15, The Fiesta City Chorus of Sweet Adelines will be performing holiday favorites for everyone at the Cody Library. Stop by to enjoy some of the winter season's best songs.
  • Jingle Bell Jubilee: Thursday, 12/10, 6:00-7:30, Kids of all ages will be ringing and singing, meeting and greeting, dancing and prancing at the Jingle Bell Jubilee!
  • Tween Time: Monday, 12/14, 3:00-4:00, Bring your friends and hang out for some interactive fun at the library. No desks. No tests. Just fun! Exclusively for nine to twelve year olds.
  • Lego Club: Tuesday, 12/15, 6:00-7:00, Come build something fun out of Legos! Themes will be different each month. Join a team and meet new friends.
    Recommended for children ages 6-12.
  • Tween Book Club: Wednesday, 12/16, 4:00-4:45, Students, ages 9-12, are invited to join Cody's new Tween Book Club. Anyone interested in checking out the latest and greatest in tween books should attend.
  • Winter Crafts: Thursday, 12/17, 3:30-5:00, Join us for some fun winter crafts that the whole family will enjoy! Make a few crafts to take with you!

What a Busy Book Fair!

The Fall 2014 Scholastic Book Fair was a success! Huskies in all grades were able to find fantastic books to read over the Thanksgiving break. The profits from the book fair will go towards:


  • materials and incentives for programs to promote reading
  • Jeff Mack Author Visit in April
  • equipment for student self-checkout station
  • additional Chromebooks for research projects
