Earth's Inerior

Features of Earth's Crust, Mantle and Core

*Earth's crust is very rocky, like granite, and the oceanic crust is like basalt.

* The mantle (40 kilometers under the earth) is very hot rock, bendy but if you kick it you would hurt your toe, iron is in it, has high pressure, and rigid.

*The core (under the mantle) has a inner and outer core, the outer core is liquid, and the inner core is solid metal, the inner core also is the one that has iron and nickel.

How do geologist learn about Earth's Interior?

Geologist use direct evidence from rocks and they also use indirect evidence from seismic waves. Geologist look for elements in small amounts on the rocks. It would be a whole easier if we could see deep in the earth but we can't.

Vocabulary terms and words to know.

Seismic wave- Vibrations that travel through Earth carrying the energy released during a earthquake.

Pressure-The force pushing on a surface divided by the area of that surface.

Crust-The layer of rock that forms Earth's outer surface.

Basalt- A dark, dense, igneous rock with a fine texture found in the oceanic crust.

Granite-A usually light-colored rock that is found in continental crust.

Mantle-A layer of hot, solid material between earth's crust and core.

lithosphere-The rigid roue part of earth.

Asthenosphere-The upper layer of earth's mantle.

Outer Core-The outer core is a liquid part of the earth.

Inner Core-The inner core is the center of the earth.

To the alien

Know that I told you about the Earth's Interior you CAN NOT take over earth, sorry. Maybe after this we could work together and find another planet to take over.
