Read more SCIENCE books

Our 4th grade students were competing to see who could read the most science books. The two top students received a free annual pass to any National Park in the United States. Our top readers were Maria Liz and Edwin, both from Ms. Perez's class.

2nd Library Toy Drive

This January we held our second Library Toy Drive. Every six weeks students who meet their goal are given a check that they can use to buy incentives from our Library AR store. Students are not only being rewarded for reading but also learning about finances. Many students have been putting their points into their savings to eventually buy the toy they want. The toys are donated by the staff at Cesar Chavez.

Battle of the Bluebonnet Books

This was the first year Cesar Chavez took part in "The Battle of the Bluebonnet Books." Vera Alonzo and Magea Santana represented our campus and did an amazing job. It was a great learning experience and we had a great time in the process.

The Mixed-Up Chameleon by Eric Carle

The chameleon's life was not very exciting until the day it discovered it could change not only its color but its shape and size, too. When it saw the wonderful animals in the zoo, it immediately wanted to be like them and ended up like all of them at once with hilarious results. After reading this book, students created their very own Mixed-Up creature.
