Covid Screener and Attestation Form

Our most important tool to keep schools safe is daily, active screening of all students and staff. Anyone who has symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 or is a confirmed positive case must self-isolate, regardless of vaccination status. Please ensure that you complete the screener and attestation form for each child, each day.

Here is what you need to remember:

1. The COVID-19 provincial school screening tool must be completed by EVERY staff and student daily: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening

2. Students (every single one in every family) have to also now complete an attestation form daily at the following link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdAYRB8qFPfPEbx1knMWBEN1XyoSHQ42WOvW9XzTYn6gpur4w/viewform

If ANY signs of illness are present (Covid or not) staff and students are NOT to attend school. Completing the provincial Covid screener will give you the info you need to know your next steps.

New - easy to read Covid Symptom "cheat sheet"

I know that it can become confusing when faced with symptoms of Covid-19. This past week the Peterborough Public Health Unit has provided a new 2 page informational, that includes some easy to read graphics.

Please take a look and remember to complete both the screener and attestation form every day!

  3. Tell store staff to enter the code KHPS at the shop

When you visit using this link: https://plantgoals.ca/khps it will also show a little popup at the bottom of the site that says 10% is being donated.

Virtual Paint Night

Our second annual Virtual Paint Night is happening this week! Our event will be taking place on Wednesday, March 2nd. Thank you to those of you that will be joining us - it really is so much fun!

The WebEx link to participate in the event will be sent to those who registered on Tuesday.

I can't wait to enjoy this great event together!

From the KPR Board Office

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I open this week’s message with concern for the safety of the people of Ukraine. Please join me with thoughts of care and support for the Ukrainian students, staff and community in our KPR family and beyond. Events like this can cause a variety of emotions. Support is available for students who may wish to speak with someone or to process their emotions. I would also like to remind you of the resources we have available online to support Mental Health.

As we come to the end of February, I am starting to feel energized by the lengthening daylight hours and I hope you feel that sense of optimism too. It was great to see students and staff wearing pink this week to Lift Each Other Up and share their commitment to stop bullying.

While we haven’t received provincial guidance yet on the impact of reduced public health restrictions on schools and classrooms, we continue to work with our local public health partners to help keep students and staff safe, and at the same time provide meaningful educational experiences for our students.

This week, I’m so pleased to introduce you to our next #WeAreKPR story, featuring Yassmin Sandoval and her students at Clarington Intermediate School. Mrs. Sandoval helps her students succeed in math by teaching the importance of making mistakes! Learn more about Mrs. Sandoval’s use of social emotional learning in math.

If you would like to nominate someone for #WeAreKPR recognition, email kpr_info@kprdsb.ca letting us know who they are and why they might be a good candidate to be featured in an upcoming #WeAreKPR story.

Thank you all for everything you do! Please continue to take care of yourselves and those around you and enjoy your weekend!

Rita

Travel Guidelines

As part of the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, the Government of Canada has announced a series of adjustments to the current border measures and requirements for international travel.

As of February 28, 2022, the following changes will take place:

  • Children under 12 years old, travelling with fully vaccinated adults, will continue to be exempt from quarantine. They are no longer required to wait 14 days before attending school or child care.
  • All unvaccinated travellers (including children under 12 travelling with unvaccinated adults) will continue to be required to follow federal requirements for testing and quarantining, including not attending school or child care for 14 days.

Changes have also been made to the pre-entry testing requirements. Visit the federal travel website prior to booking any travel arrangements: COVID-19 vaccinated travellers entering Canada - Travel restrictions in Canada.

Please remember to complete the COVID-19 school screening tool every day before coming to school or child care.

Report Cards

Student Report Cards and Communication of Learning Reports (for students in Kindergarten) are available to families via Edsby. This document shows how to access reports electronically. At this time, reports can only be accessed through laptop/desktops via Edsby.

For families who access Edsby via a mobile device, please reach out to your child’s school office and request printed copies of report cards. Schools are aware that some families will need this option and will be happy to supply a printed copy of this important communication about student learning.

One more thing....

The end of February/beginning of March can be a rough time. It's still cold, it's still snowy and spring is not quite peeking through. Hang in there, Kawartha Heights community! Each day, try to find a little something that you can do that brings you joy. Before you know it, the sun will be warmer, the days will be brighter and spring will be here.
