Happy New Year!
Hello Raider Nation --
Happy New Year and Welcome to 2019!
As we begin a new year, we are fast approaching the midpoint of our school year. The midterm exam schedule was sent out earlier but is attached at the bottom for you to download.
Our last week of school was a busy one. I want to thank everyone for making it such a great week. Our STEMapalozza was a HUGE success! Thank you Jean for spearheading this event for our feeder schools. The Alumni Day allowed former students to impart knowledge to their soon-to-be peers and lastly, who could forget the flash mob! Thank you to all who participated and Nicole Payne for organizing.
As we return from break, the administration will be making a effort to reinforce the expectations set forth at the beginning of the school year. We noticed as we approached break, many students seemed to fall into “old” habits. We are asking for your continued support regarding earbuds/headphones and drinks (coffee, etc.).
Monday, January 7 is our EXTENDED staff meeting (until 4:30pm). For those of you that agreed to stay—thank you! We will compensate you for your time. Our meeting will be the kickoff of our Professional Learning Committee’s planning to define the core values of our Atholton community. Your participation is critical to this endeavor. More will be revealed on Monday.
Lastly, on a sad note, I sent an email out regarding the death of Lisa Veslany’s mother. She will be out until mid-next week. Please feel free to reach out to her. Below are the details sent out on Monday:
Friends and family will be received at Tatalovich Funeral Home on January 2, 2019 in Aliquippa, PA. Funeral services will be held on January 3, 2109 at the House of Prayer Lutheran Church in Aliquippa, PA. Interment will be held at St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg PA, on January 4, 2019. Condolences may be sent to Joe and Lisa Veslany at 2201 Samantha Way, Ellicott City, MD 21042. The Veslany Family thanks our Howard County Public School System friends for loving prayers.
I hope you are well rested and ready for the second half of the year! I cannot wait to see you all tomorrow.
