Message from the principal...
December has rushed upon us and we're two weeks away from winter break. We have a few reminders of things coming up in December and January, but more immediately we are excited to celebrate Inclusive Schools Week during the week of December 6th -10th. This week gives us an extra opportunity to celebrate being an inclusive community where everyone is included! Join us in celebrating by showing your spirit. More information about Inclusive Schools Week can be found in this newsletter.
During this busy month, I do hope you find time to slow down and celebrate small moments with your family. During this season where a number of holidays are celebrated, I hope that your family takes some time to unwind and rest. The campus is always buzzing with fun activities and excitement for the upcoming winter break during December, and we are excited to finish out the year of 2021 with strength and excitement for a new year ahead. Thank you, as always, for your partnership and support for all of our staff at Clifford.
In partnership,
Jude
Message from our Equity Coach, Natalie
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
December 1st was Rosa Parks Day and many classes came to the Equity Room to learn and build on their knowledge of Rosa Parks. Clifford students learned that Rosa was not physically tired that day in 1955 when she refused to give up her seat to a white person; she was just tired of giving in all the time.
This week both GSA and the Black Student Union met. The GSA made a flag for the middle school hallway and added their handprints to the Equity Room. During the BSU meeting, we had an informative discussion on colorism in the Black community and its roots.
Next week is Inclusive Schools Week. I’m excited to be teaching lessons to the various grades with a focus on disability awareness. The teachers have also been provided with additional lessons and books if they want to explore the topics further. Here is a list of book suggestions if you would like to read some of these books at home.
All the best,
Natalie

Winter Wonderland Dance 6th-8th Grade! 12/10 3-5PM
Hello families! We are happy to be able to host an after school dance on Friday December 10th from 3:00-5:00. We need to follow some extra steps to comply with guidelines from San Mateo County Office of Education. Students must demonstrate that they are vaccinated or, if they are not vaccinated, they need to be Covid tested prior to the event, which would be provided here at school the day prior to the dance. This is a requirement for students to attend this extracurricular event. Please complete each section below if you would like to give your student permission to attend this dance on 12/10 from 3:00-5:00. The dance will be held in the MUB at Clifford. Students must be picked up at campus no later than 5:15 pm.

Clifford ELAC!

Honey Bear Trees! Fundraising for Clifford when you buy a tree!
Hello,
This is Shelly with Honey Bear Trees. Welcome to another season of fundraising. I've attached our flyer to this email for your school to distribute. As usual, the flyer is not necessary to receive the 15% donation to your school but they will need to mention the school they want their donation to go to when purchasing a tree or wreath from us. At the end of the season we will mail out your donation check. Have a wonderful week.
Hope to see you this season!
