For the repose of the soul of Joseph Albe; for his family and friends; and for all those who mourn his loss.
For all service men and women; first responders; police; firefighters; health care workers; and everyone who is keeping us safe, protected, and fed during the COVID 19 crisis.
For all those sick and suffering from the Coronavirus, may they recover quickly and completely.
And, God Bless America!
SOME IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM SMM ADMINISTRATION
Morning Car Line Info: We were waiting for you at 7:15 AM, but only two or three of you showed up. Therefore, beginning Monday, we will begin opening car doors and taking temps at 7:30 AM once again. We observed that there are large gaps of cars entering the campus between 7:30 and 7:40 AM. So if you come during that time, you should get in and out quickly. We have also determined that we can take all of our students' temps and get them out of their cars within 30 minutes.
Therefore, students will be counted tardy after 8:00 AM beginning Monday, August 17. Parents will have to park and check in their children in the office after 8:00 AM.
During this time of safe-social distancing, we would like our parents to know that we are not accepting drop off items in the office to be delivered to students. If your child forgets his/her water bottle, we will provide one for the day.
Your children are doing a great job at school following the safe social distancing and mask wearing rules even though it is difficult for them. AND they seem so happy to be back in school.
For your information, we allow students to lower their masks at recess when they are at least two arms length away from each other; but they must raise them if they are going to get closer. We have purchased some new balls for use at recess that are assigned to individual homerooms. Students will wash or sanitize their hands before and after recess and their teachers will sanitize the balls after recess.
Some teachers have come up with new ideas to allow their students to safely lower their masks throughout the day, such as 5 minute mask breaks while facing forward.
We are doing our absolute best to keep your children safe and in school. With this said, please read this message from Mr. Collins:
"Parents, we are working hard to keep your kids safe. However, we need your help - weekend sleepovers, social gatherings, etc. should be limited at this time. Group photos with no masks are not conducive to your child's safety in our current environment.
Social gatherings MAY result in a quarantine for an entire class of students who have been following social distance guidelines.
Please consider your weekend choices and how they may affect our school. Thank you."
The WSMM Morning Show is being live streamed Monday through Thursday on the St. Margaret Mary Facebook page and posted afterwards.
Speaking of Facebook, please consider joining the Facebook page titled "My kids attend St. Margaret Mary School." Many of our parents share helpful information and ideas about school and other activities. Every now and then administration and teachers pipe in as well.

THEY SAY IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY
Students in lower grades (up to 3rd grade) are allowed to bring in a store-bought, individually wrapped, single-serve snacks for each student in the class to celebrate their birthdays as long as it has been approved by the classroom teacher ahead of time. Snacks should be brought to the classroom by the students when they arrive in the morning. Parents are not allowed to drop off snacks at a later time. This is not a requirement by any means, but if a parent would like to do so, please keep the current restrictions in mind.

LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO ....
Father Jared Rodrigue
Here are a few excerpts from his story in the week's church bulletin: "I grew up in Destrehan, Louisiana, raised by two amazing parents, who both still work for St. Charles Borromeo Church Parish. I practically lived on the church campus. Along with my two older brothers, we grew up with our priests and deacons as regular guests in our homes.
After elementary school there at St. Charles Borromeo, I continued high school education at Jesuit High School. It formed me more into a man of God and a man for others, enabling me to make the decision to become a priest for God and a priest for others.
After graduating high school, attending Franciscan University of Steubenville, entering formation with a religious order - the Salesians of Don Bosco, the Lord called me back home to become a priest for God and a priest for others.
I am beyond excited to witness the ways in which you continue to grow in your love for the Lord, while at the same time equally thrilled to serve the Lord and you in whatever ways He sees fit. Please pray for me that I might be the humble priest that you deserve."
