There are two types of carbohydrates:

Simple and Complex

Simple Carbohydrates: Has 1 or 2 sugars and is broken down fast

Complex Carbohydrates: Has 3 or more sugars and is broken down slowly

Carbohydrates are important because...?

We need carbohydrates for energy! Without energy, we wouldn't be productive in everyday life. Athletes especially need a lot of carbohydrates to participate in physical activities! There are also bad and good types of carbohydrates which contains high levels of glycemic. So watch out for those!
