Newsletter week 8 Term 1
St Joseph's Catholic School Morrinsville 23 March 2021
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora Koutou,
What a busy and exciting week we had last week! It was so much fun to dress up for St Patrick's Day and celebrate as a school. We had our Feast Day of St Joseph on Friday. We so enjoyed hosting St Joes Waihi, Matamata and Paeroa for the day. Our children mingled with others and it was such a special memory to create together.
We welcome Luca O'Neill and Meghna Arun to our school. Luca is in Akonga Hub and Meghna is in Room 4. Their families have moved to Morrinsville so make sure you give them a warm welcome around school.
We had a representative team who competed at the Waikato Catholic Interschools Swimming Competition last week. There are some amazing swimmers in the Waikato and we were honoured to have students who qualified for the event. This competition is for year 7 and 8 students only.
Congratulations to the children and parents who competed in the Piako Triathlon. It looked like it was a great day! All the very best to our team who is competing in the Waipa Fun Run this Sunday.
St John's College have shared some news with us which we are delighted to share. A previous student, Jack Kane, has earnt a leadership role in Year 13 as House Leader for 2021. St John's College are certain that the grounding students have in their early years of schooling helps form them into the capable and willing young men who take on these rolls. Well done Jack.
We wish to extend a thank you to Morris Flynn and Wayne Sowman who kindly came to our aid the other week when a swarm of bees decided to take up residence in one of our trees. Your swift action to take care of the matter was very much appreciated. Bees be gone!
Next week we celebrate our Easter Week. We will let you know later in the week what is going to take place each day. You are very welcome to attend. On Friday is our School Assembly, starting at 12 pm. We would love to see you there!
We hope you are enjoying our new look newsletter. Have a fantastic week. God bless you all.

Reflection
Loving Father,
So many times I turn away from you
and always you welcome me back.
Your mercy and love gives me confidence
Thank you for the invitation to share, fast and pray
so that you can form a new heart within me.
Your powerful compassion for my weaknesses
leads me to ask for mercy
and await with great hope the Easter joy you share with us.
