Superintendent's Memo
This week, we had the pleasure to celebrate some of our amazing staff. Buffalo Trail Public Schools Board of Trustees hosted a Celebration and Retirement event on October 25 in Vermilion, where we shared a meal and celebrated career milestones. It was wonderful to see staff gather to share their colleagues recognition.
We were able to recognize long-service employees who have been with Buffalo Trail for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years, as well as Nadia Melnyk, who has been at Delnorte School for an impressive 50 years.
The event also served as an opportunity to bid farewell to 16 retiring employees who have made invaluable contributions to our schools and positively impacted students over the years.
Charlene Crabb was presented with the Outstanding Support Staff award and Shelley Sinclair was acknowledged for receiving the Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence.
The evening was a token of appreciation for their many years of service to the students, staff and families of Buffalo Trail Public Schools.
Having the opportunity to come together with more than 120 staff members from across the division, was truly a gift. Buffalo Trail Public Schools extends its sincere appreciation to all our staff for their contributions and unwavering commitment to our division.
Be Well,
Michelle

Remembrance Day
In Flanders Fields
By JOHN MCCRAE
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

ATLE: CONVERGENCE CONFERENCE 2023
Earlier this month BTPS was fortunate to send a large contingency of staff to the ATLE Convergence Conference in Calgary. This 3-day event showcases the cutting-edge technology in education. Our Technology staff, Learning Services team, and teachers from across the division used this time for professional development and networking with other divisions across Alberta and Saskatchewan. Key areas of focus this year were Cybersecurity best practices, how to use AI effectively for staff and students, Alberta Education's new secure exam platform, and exciting new technology for the classroom. Attendance at this conference helps BTPS to stay ahead of the Technology wave over the IT (Informational Technology) and ET (Educational Technology) space.
