School Matters
October 2019
October is National Principals Month
Lake Travis ISD joins Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, the National Association of Elementary School Principals, and the National Association of Secondary School Principals in recognizing October 2019 as National Principals Month. “So much is expected of our school principals,” said LTISD Superintendent Dr. Brad Lancaster. “They are instructional leaders, assessment experts, disciplinarians, campus safety coordinators, community builders, budget analysts, and guardians of policy mandates and initiatives. Principals set the academic tone for our schools and work collaboratively with teachers to develop and maintain high curriculum standards and performance goals for all students. Thank you to our outstanding campus leaders who serve more than 11,000 students districtwide.”

October is National Physical Therapy Month
In an effort to celebrate the impact of physical therapists and physical therapist assistants, the American Physical Therapy Association has designated October as National Physical Therapy Month. At Lake Travis ISD, Christine Urban serves as our Physical Therapist (PT). School-based physical therapists are part of a team of related service providers who support a student’s ability to access his or her educational environment. As specialists in movement, PTs assist a student’s physical participation in a variety of settings throughout the school day. The primary role of the school PT is to help students benefit from their educational program within the campus environment. Using their unique expertise in movement and function, school-based PTs ensure a free and appropriate education for students with disabilities to prepare them for further education, employment, and independent living.
