Why is SSICP transitioning into using ManageBac?

This is SSICP's first year as an authorized IB World School and ManageBac is the leading online learning platform for over 1,300 IB World Schools. It is used by 4 out of 5 IBDP students worldwide and by most CPS IBDP schools. ManageBac will enable SSICP to efficiently communicate with students and parents, plan curriculum, report assessment and eliminate paperwork.

SSICP embraces risk taking and being on the forefront of modernizing the community's educational experience. Students must be prepared for college and the constantly changing online world. ManageBac is similar to online learning systems colleges use like Blackboard for communication and management of paperwork. This does not mean that SSICP believes change happens instantly. SSICP acutely understands that this transition asks our community to learn new technology skills and adjust ways of reading student grades. Support and training will be provided throughout the school year, please see below for more details.

Whose grades will be on ManageBac?

All MYP students (all 9th and 10th grade) will use ManageBac for all classes except their Career Technical Education. All students in DP classes will use Managebac. Teachers, students and parents will be able to view assignments, grades, term reports and messages with teachers through ManageBac. Most college prep classes, 11th and 12th grade honors and AP courses will continue to use CPS Parent Portal.

At every 5 week grading period, all parents, students, and teachers will be able to see letter grades in CPS Parent Portal. Parents and students will still receive progress reports in the mail and report cards on pickup days or in the mail.

All attendance will be entered, recorded and viewed through CPS Parent Portal.

How do I sign up for ManageBac and where can I get help navigating the new system?

Parents, this new system only works if you can login! Please complete the Parent Registration Google Form (linked below as well) to be added to ManageBac and make this a success.

Parents who need support or guidance for navigating ManageBac will be able to attend sessions on Back to School Night or can access immediate ManageBac Online Support Center. SSICP will hold virtual video demonstrations throughout the year. Parents can view video demonstrations on the school website or through this newsletter.
