Dachau
Dachau was the first Nazi concentration camp. It opened in 1933 shortly after Hitler became chancellor of Germany.It was Located south of Germany, Dachau house political prisoners. But it became a death camp were thousands of Jews died. They died by disease, overwork, or they were executed. Dachau was closed on April 1945 from U.S military forces.
Buchenwald
Buchenwald was one of the biggest Nazi concentration camps. It was built northwest of Germany on 1937. Like Dachau it house political prisoners but it became a death camp. The population of Buchenwald grew fast because Jews age 16-60 were arrested. Most prisoners work like slaves and work in a 12 hour shift. There were 240,000 prisoners in Buchenwald and 43,000 of those prisoners died.
