Kia ora koutou Parents and Caregivers,

Covid-19 Notice: I hope this newsletter finds you safe and well.

New COVID-19 Protection(Traffic Light) Framework

You may have heard that everyone in Aotearoa have moved to the new COVID-19 Traffic Light Framework. We have moved to orange.

This means that we don’t have to change the way we are operating classes this year, and everyone can continue to attend school onsite. For next year, we can confirm that everyone will be back onsite for learning from the start of the school year, regardless of what setting under the new Traffic Light Framework we will be in(Red/Orange/Green). This is good news and means we can plan for a great 2022.

Health measures in place at school. This year and next, health, safety and wellbeing will continue to be a priority for us and the same public health measures you are very familiar with will remain in place:

●good hygiene and cleaning

●contact tracing systems in place

●vaccination requirements for workers (paid and unpaid)

●if you are sick, you must stay home and get tested

●good ventilation.

There has been a change to Prize giving as outlined below.

In the New Year we will update our vaccination register for those who are 12 years and over.

It is our last whole week. Children's reports will be given to students on Tuesday afternoon.

Our last day will be Wednesday 15 December at 12.00 pm.

Prize Giving - Change of Venue

We had planned to hold our major Prize Giving at the South Waikato Events Center next Monday from 4 - 6 pm. Due to the traffic light system being in place now, the Events Center requires everyone from 12 years old to be fully vaccinated. As some of our prize winners do not meet the requirements, we will hold the event at our school hall on Monday, 13th December from 4 to 6 pm.

Children will be notified on Wednesday, 8th December if they are nominated for an award and will receive an invitation for up to 2 guests to attend. Visitors have to be fully vaccinated and wear a mask. Vaccination passes will need to be presented on entry. Please do not be offended if you get turned away, if you do not meet the requirements. This is in line with the Ministry of Health guidelines to keep our students and staff safe.

The same applies to the students who will receive an award at our Sports Prize Giving on Tuesday, 14th December at 9 am.

No visitors will be allowed to attend the Whare Prize Givings to be held next Monday and Tuesday.

Uniform Popup Shop

A uniform popup shop will be operating in our school hall on the following dates:

Monday 24th January and Tuesday 25th January 2022 from 9 to 5 pm.

Mufti Day - Food Drive

To support our local food bank our school council has organised a mufti day for this Friday, 10th December. Students to bring a can or non-perishable food items.

As this coincides with our Sports Day students are allowed to dress up and wear face paint. The face paint needs to be put on at home and not be brought to school.

ECO Council at Work

No, these photos were not taken in the redwoods but next to our school playground in our own native garden.

Our eco-council led by Piki planned the outlay of this garden and planted various types of plants.

These students have set a goal to make our school grounds look beautiful with plants and landscaping. Great job students!
