Principal's Message

Happy Friday Falcon Families!


It was so nice to finally have kids in the building with us! We had a great first few days of the school year. A huge thanks to all of the teachers and support staff for making the start to the year a great one. Additionally, I want to say thank you to all of the parents and caregivers for their support, patience, and understanding with our new routines and procedures. Our drop-off and pick-up routines including the temperature checks at team entrances seem to be going smoothly. We greatly appreciate your support in not dropping students off prior to 7:45 am, and for instructing your children to stay in the front of the building and out of the parking lot during pick-up time after school.


Our first couple days of school focused on relationships and routines. Teachers did an excellent job of supporting students in learning new routines and expectations for learning in our hybrid model. Students did a great job of wearing masks throughout the day, and as expected our students will need regular reminders about physical distancing. In order to better support students and ensure a safe learning environment, we have been evaluating and reflecting on our practices so that we can make changes if needed. You can expect any changes to procedures, especially those related to building entry, pick-up, and drop-off to be communicated through email.


If you see me outside before or after school, please feel free to stop over and say hello. I look forward to meeting you all and getting to know each of our students and their families. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Important Reminders

  • Please send students with a water bottle to school every day. The drinking stations can not be used this year, and have been shut off, but they can still fill water bottles throughout the day.


  • Every student will be given a chrome book and charge this year for both in school and remote learning days. The computer and charger will be brought home in your child's Fleming learning bag. Please help your child to keep track of both the computer and charge as they are costly items to replace as well they will be needed for each day of learning whether remote or at school. We are encouraging finding a chrome book case if possible to help protect the computers throughout the school year.

Visitors in School

Just a reminder that we are still closed to having outside visitors here at school. That means we can not currently have parents enter the building. If you need to sign your student out early, for an appointment, or if they are coming in late, parents should still not enter the building.


Ms. Aldrich from the office, will come to the front door with a clipboard for you to sign your child out, and either our nurse, or Ms. A will also come to the front door when students arrive late, to take their temperature checks and send them to their home rooms.


If you need to see the nurse for any reason, such as dropping off medication, please call the Health Office at 857-7789, she will arrange a time to meet you outside, in front of the building.


Thank you for your patience as we navigate the new norm for this school year. We can't wait for the time that it's ok for parents to come back in and volunteer at school, and connect in person!

Please read regarding our Drop/Off Pick up Policies

Drop-off:

Students should not arrive on school grounds any earlier than 7:45 am unless bus transportation results in their bus drop of arriving before that time. We have seen several students being dropped off earlier, and we are not staffed at that time to accommodate students being onsite early. Thank you for your help

Pick Up

Students walking or biking, will be dismissed at 2:57pm.

Students getting picked up will be dismissed at the bell at 3:00pm.

When picking up your students at the end of the day, please drive around the back of the school building and line up for pickup along the sidewalk near the playground-side of the building, where children can enter through the left side of vehicles. Please do not wait for students in the front island or park on Prospect Street to have them cut across driveway or streets with moving traffic.


Note: Afternoon bus transportation will have dedicated use of the front of school loop for buses that will likely arrive to provide school transportation for eligible students no other vehicles will be able to be parked in the front loop during that time.

News from the Art Room!

Hello, Fleming Families!

Mrs. Coffrin here! I hope everyone is doing well and adjusting to the new school year. I want to share some personal news with you. I am going out on maternity leave. My husband and I are expecting our first baby Oct. 1st. It's a boy! I will be on leave from 9/21/20 - 1/3/21. Ms. Gengras will fill in for me while I am away. She is a wonderful art teacher and has been teaching at Hiawatha for the last three years and will continue her teaching there in addition to Fleming. News from the Learning Center

The first week of school is in full swing and we have lots of brand new books ready for checkout! Students will not be visiting the library, but they will learn how to request book delivery in the next few weeks!


Please a reminder to return any library books from last school year. Books from Hiawatha or Summit can be returned to Fleming. You may also drop books after hour, in the Blue Bin in front of the building. To see if your child currently has any overdue books email Carrie Ishaq at csperanza1@ewsd.org. Thank you!
