Summer Learning
Getting Ready for First Grade
Thank you for an Incredible Year!
Thank you so much for all your support this year...I couldn't have done it without you! I will miss each one of those precious little ones and treasure every moment I spent with them. Have a wonderful summer and I'll see you next year!
What Should I Do This Summer?
We have compiled a list of resources for you to use with your child this summer. Continue learning at home with a regular schedule of activities. Of course, free time and good old-fashioned play are extremely valuable too, so please don't forget to add those to the list.
Here are some other resources we have used.
- Epic! (free trial may expire at the end of June but you can renew for a fee)
- Seesaw - If you want to access any incomplete assignments from class or specialist teachers, your current code will work through the end of June. Teachers will not be checking or responding to assignments, however.
It is also a good idea to practice with pencil and paper. Writing stories, solving math problems, practicing handwriting will certainly benefit your child this summer. However, please keep in mind that if you do these activities, it is important to do them properly. For example, handwriting review is only helpful if students take their time to grip their pencil correctly and write their letters and numbers in the correct form.
Non-digital Resources
- review Rainbow Words
- write a story
- keep a journal
- draw & solve math story problems
- handwriting
- Summer Brain Quest workbook (often available at Costco & Amazon)
