What will happen this week...
Valentine's Day
This is a kid only event. We will pass out cards to each other. Just have your child sign their name but we will not worry about addressing them to a friend. It is easier to pass them out. We focus on passing them out and thanking each other instead of the teachers reading the name. They need 8 valentines. We will make a valentine holder at school so the children do not need to bring a box to school. I am thinking about serving Root Beer floats using strawberry soda and grape soda as well. Another big hit are the Little Debbie Heart shaped cakes.
These are the items we are looking for:
1 (2liter) of Root Beer, Grape, and Strawberry Soda
2 containers of vanilla ice cream
2 packages of Little Debbie heart shaped cakes.
Heart Awareness Month
Give your child a heart healthy start... children should be forming good habits now so they don't have to break bad habits later in life. Parents play a key role in ensuring that their children are living a heart healthy lifestyle.
* Limit fat, salt and sugar intake
* Give them fruits, veggies, fish, nuts and fiber rich whole grains in their diet
* Let the kids go outside and breathe in that fresh air and play. It's so much better for them than sitting in front of the television or playing video games
* Teach them that smoking is not good for your health
* Take them in for regular yearly physicals
* Know your family history regarding heart disease
* Make living in a heart healthy way a family thing...you are their best example!
