Falcon Friday - September 29, 2023
Olathe South High School
Principal's Corner
It is always a great day to be a Falcon and this week was no exception! We are quickly approaching the end of the first quarter, and we are encouraged to see how hard our students and staff are working to end the quarter with success. At our September data meeting, we celebrated more than 96% of students have good attendance habits, 85% have all their grades higher than a 70%, and less than 2% of our students having an office referral. Our Falcons are amazing, and we are so proud of the work they are doing in the classroom.
This week also kicked off the start of our performing arts programs with orchestra having a concert this week, theatre opening Macbeth this weekend, band performing their entire show this Friday, and choir having a concert in two weeks. Our debate team continues to succeed in their competitions, and were recognized as members of the 200 point team this week, placing them in the top 10% of all debate teams in the nation! Be sure to check out the calendar as you will not want to miss the talent of our performing arts department.
Athletics continues to be completive in the Sunflower League. Thursday night we celebrate our senior volleyball students, and soccer will take on Olathe West that night as well. Our football team will continue their success again Mill Valley Friday night. Cross country will race against Ray-Pec on Saturday, Girls golf has a league competition on Sunday, and our gymnastics team will compete with Olathe West on the 4th. Be sure to get out and celebrate our girls tennis team as they enter regional competition on the 6th! We encourage our entire Falcon Nation to get out and celebrate our Falcons!
Our Falcon of the Week is Jayden Berry. Jayden is recognized for his hard work in the classroom, on the field, and for his ability to brighten anyone's day. Way to go, Jayden! Be sure to check out all the falcons nominated this week.
Go Falcons,
Sean DeMaree
