No School Friday for Parent Teacher Conferences; Make-up Day for LC Grades 4, 6 & 7
There will be no school for students on Friday, March 11 due to parent teacher conferences EXCEPT for Lucas Crossing students in grades 4, 6 and 7. This is to make up for the remote learning days earlier in the year due to COVID mitigation.
Lucas Crossing students in grades 4, 6 and 7 will attend school on Friday, March 11 and will end the day like a typical early release Friday (7:20 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.).

Lucas Crossing Wraps Up Black History Month Speaker Series
Alderwoman Shameem Clark Hubbard represents Ward 26. She met with a small group of eighth grade scholars, who had a chance to ask questions. She shared what inspired her to run for office and what motivates her as she continues her service.
LWV to Hold Forum for JEGB Candidates March 21
Candidates for the two available seats on the Normandy Joint Executive Governing Board are invited to participate in a community forum hosted by the St. Louis branch of the League of Women Voters.
The forum will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, March 21 at Barack Obama School, 3883 Jennings Station Road, and via Zoom. (The link will be posted in the coming weeks.)
Community members are encouraged to submit questions to be asked at the forum.
Voters in the Normandy Schools Collaborative will have the opportunity to elect two candidates to the JEGB at the April 5, 2022 election. The candidates on the ballot are:

- Marcieta Reed
- Harlan Hodge
- Violet Taylor
- Catasha Jones-Moran
- Joseph Zenon
- Robin Blount

District Seeks Feedback on Possible Return of Middle School
The NSC community recently participated in a Middle School Community Meeting to discuss the future of middle grade education in Normandy Schools.

County Apprenticeship & Career Pathways Showcase to be Held for Grades 6-12
Special School District (SSD) of St. Louis County, the career and technical education provider for high school students, is hosting the St. Louis County Apprenticeship and Career Pathways Showcase. The events will feature regional employers and apprenticeship representatives who are seeking new talent and are eager to meet with students in grades 6-12 and recent graduates.
The next showcase will be held Saturday, March 12, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., South Tech High School.

Maryville Now Enrolling for Free Coding Summer Camp
Learn in-demand coding skills at a free summer camp for 6-12 graders at Maryville University.
The camp days begins with coding instruction from Maryville's expert teachers focusing on Earsketch, Escape Rooms, Game Design, or Makey Makey. Students will participate in college-like activities in the afternoons. Camp, meals, and transportation will be provided at no charge to students from Normandy Schools Collaborative.
Sessions run July 11-15 for grades 6-8 and July 18-22 for grades 9-12. Registration ends May 15. Click here to apply.
St. Louis County COVID-19 Vaccine Incentive Program
With children ages 5-11 now eligible to get vaccinated, they are also eligible for the DPH’s vaccine incentive program. St. Louis County parents or guardians will receive gift cards if their children 5 and older get vaccinated.
To qualify for this incentive, individuals must:
- Live in St. Louis County
- Be 5 years of age or older
- Get fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at a Department of Public Health (DPH) vaccination event.
Families with multiple children are eligible to receive gift cards for each child who is fully vaccinated.

Free COVID Testing
NSC is offering free saliva-based COVID-19 testing at the Normandy Early Learning Center via a partnership with Washington University. COVID testing is available at a special drive-through clinic.
