Virtual Leadership Rallies - DEADLINE EXTENDED OCTOBER, 14

We have extended the deadline to attend the Virtual Leadership Rallies, "Multiply Your Leadership". It costs $50.00 per chapter. This means that you can invite all your members AND your prospective members. This a great opportunity to recruit those members to join at this uncertain time.

In addition, you will be given access for 30 days to use in your classroom to teach your students about leadership. There will be lesson plans to help with this as well, although they will be sent out a few days afterwards, as they are completed.

FCS Teacher Survey

We know how busy you are, however, in order to help us help you, we need to know a little about what you are teaching and your teaching environment. If you will complete this survey by Friday, October 23, we can start providing specifics for you in the classroom. Thank you so much.

Teaching Resources

Gayle Murdock, Advisor Mentor, provided several different resources this past week during our Advisor Q&A. You will find her list of resources below. Reach out to Gayle and let her know if you need help or assistance or have questions.

LIFESMARTS

This is a FREE online resource to teach students about real-world education while developing critical thinking skills. Topics include: consumer rights and responsibilities, the environment, health and safety, personal finance, and technology. Gayle is an expert in LifeSmarts and can answer all your questions and help you start this in your virtual classroom.

Advisors Q&A - COMPETITIVE EVENTS

After many weeks of meeting, we have decided to make this meeting a permanent time and date to make it easier on you. This hopefully will make it easier for you to join us. The invite will be good through the end of the year.....So mark Every Thursday at 5:00 pm MST as a meeting for all FCS teachers and advisors. (We won't meet Dec. 24 or Dec. 31. :)

There may be times that we may meet with other Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), due to updates from the Career and Technical Leadership Project (CTLP). However, this week we will be discussing competitive events for FCCLA only and what that will look like for New Mexico. The guide link is below. Be sure to download it for reference as we will be giving updates and news from National about the competitive events this year.

Important Reminder: projects that were started last year, may NOT be submitted this year, per National restrictions. Therefore, if any project is discovered during competition that it was started before July 1, 2020, will be unable to advance to National.

See you Thursday.
