Emmott Eagle News
We Are Eagles Watch Us Soar
April 23, 2018
A Note from Mrs. Hernandez
This week we celebrate our Emmott Eagles for Staff Appreciation Week! We are so thankful to have such dedicated individuals who share their love of teaching and learning each day with our students. I am so thankful to work with such committed educators who go above and beyond every day for students, parents, and our CFISD community.
This week as we recognize our Emmott Eagle Staff on campus, I encourage our students to participate in showing their appreciation! Some thoughtful ways to celebrate:
Monday: Bring in a special letter, note card, or drawing to share with your teacher(s)/special staff member.
Tuesday: Surprise your teacher/special staff member with a "sweet treat" for the day!
Wednesday: Wear your teacher's/special staff member's favorite color to school!
Thursday: Every great staff member loves flowers! Sprinkle some color into the classroom/campus with a special flower to brighten the day.
Friday: We couldn't end the week of celebration without An Apple for our Teachers! Bring in your favorite kind of apple and give your teacher/special staff member a snack for the day!
Thank you for joining us as we celebrate our Emmott Eagle Staff!
This last week we had so much to celebrate! Our 2nd grade students did an amazing job in their Seussical Jr. performance and presented their fun in a fun style for all to see. Our kindergarten students traveled to the Houston Zoo for a fun adventure. Thank you to the many volunteers who traveled along side our young explorers and allowed them to enjoy the beautiful experience. Hats off to the 5th grade students who participated in the CFISD Choral Festival! WOW, what an evening of musical talent. Our 5th grade students really shined and shared their vocal abilities for all to hear. It was a fun filled evening and our Eagles sure did make us proud!
As you can see the learning continues at Emmott with fun and engaging experiences for students! Be sure to check out our social media sites.

Emmott Cafeteria Update Starts April 30

To accommodate the construction, we will restructure our food service process starting next week April 30. Beginning April 30 through the end of the school year, we will no longer serve hot lunches. Our nutrition services team will make other options available for students to enjoy a balanced meal.

Credit By Exam Information through June 1st
Students in grades K-5 will have four opportunities during the school year to use “credit-by-exam” to accelerate to another grade level. Students will only have one opportunity to test for each grade level considered.
To apply to take the test to skip kindergarten, a student must be 5 by September 1, and registered in a CFISD school. To apply to take the test to skip grade 1, a student must be 6 by September 1, and enrolled in a CFISD school.
Students who earn scores of 80% or better on each component of the credit-by-exam will qualify to advance one grade. Only one grade level may be “skipped” each year. No retests will be given.
If you are interested in getting more information about credit-by-exam, please contact the school counselor, Ms. Tamara Stewart.
