Mrs. Dufresne's Second Grade

November 17 - 21, 2014

Curriculum Notes

We are wrapping up our theme in reading, Nature Walk. Our selection this week is Owl Moon and a non-fiction piece about owls. We are working on understanding the main topic and key details.

In spelling we are focusing on commonly misspelled words for second graders. Check your student's planner to see which list your student is studying. It is also printed on this newsletter.

Our Math focus is adding double digit numbers. We are learning several strategies to help students add double digits, including making a new ten or hundred. We are also using addition strategies in word problems.

In Science we are studying the states of matter and are tying up maps and the seven continents in Social Studies.
