Ericson Weekly Update
May 25-29 Week 10 Long Distance Learning Update
Principal's Message
Hello Sea Kings,
Mrs. Wolf and I hope that everyone had an enjoyable Memorial Day weekend. As we head into these last two weeks of school we will continue to connect with students and support their learning.
Our grade level teams have created some fantastic websites for students, and if you haven't been able to take a look at these resources I encourage you to check them out. The links are available at the end of this week's newsletter.
The new construction at Ericson is transforming our school, and over this summer will continue. We look forward to our updated and improved facilities. Though this will take course over the next few years, we are excited to see the work that is being done to ensure that our students have updated facilities with safety being a key factor in planning.
This week Extended Learning will be informing families about enrollment in Summer Learning Opportunities and your child's teacher will also inform you of the details regarding Summer Distance Learning.
Next week we will be celebrating the Promotion of our 6th grade students to middle school. 6th grade parents please have your child check their email for updates regarding our celebration on June 4th at 10 AM.
Our office staff continues to be available at 253-6450 to answer questions or assist you with resources during our school closure.
For current Ericson updates please like our Ericson Elementary School Sea Kings Facebook Page or visit our school website https://www.fresnounified.org/schools/ericson
Go Sea Kings!
We miss you!

Summer Learning Opportunities for Students
Summer ACADEMIES are designed to support students with ongoing learning needs, for students with credit recovery needs, or to accelerate academic achievement. Like previous summer school programs, students will be identified by their home school and invited to attend in daily teacher led learning activities. Classes include K-3 Literacy Academy, Math Academy, High School Credit Recovery Academy and individualized special education instruction just to name a few.
Summer CAMPS are designed to provide relevant and enriching learning experiences for students of all grade levels. Camps are an opt in learning opportunity. Interested students will be given virtual access to learn and engage at their own pace in activities like Fresno State’s Lyles College Summer STEM Camp for grades 3-5, Career Readiness Camp for grades 9-12 and recreational, physical fitness, and academic activities.
Students identified to participate in a Summer Academy will receive a communication during the week May 25th that will provide additional details, including their summer learning class schedule.
Information about Summer Camps, including a complete list and how to get involved in one or more of these virtual enrichment programs, will be shared in future communications.
At-Home Instructional Opportunities
At-Home Instructional Opportunities
Dear Families,
Mrs. Stephenson here to bring you a new idea for at-home learning. Did you know that you can make playdough at home with nothing but flour, salt, and water? See the video below for a step by step guide. Playdough can be used to as a learning tool. It can improve hand strength and motor control for little ones. They can roll the dough to form letters and numbers.
Older kids can use cookie cutters and rolling pins to form animals, people, and whatever their imaginations can dream up. The best part is, once a child makes a shape she loves, you can bake the playdough in the oven and it will harden. Then she can paint it and keep it!
I'll have a new instructional idea for you to try next week.
Best regards,
Melissa Stephenson
